Does anyone else think JV appears to be a bit "soft"? To me it seems that he could hit the weights a bit harder. There is no questioning his foot work, but he could stand to pack on a couple pounds of muscle (lower and upper body) and maybe he would be better suited to break tackles (stiff arms and shaking off tacklers). Does anyone know his work ethic in the gym? He just doesn't have the prototypical body of the usual RB.

Shed some of that body fat and harden up a little. It couldn't hurt.

actually most people in spring said he looked even stronger and faster going in.

but then again, Nate Livings was top dog.

That's one of the things I was going to say. He looks "softer" this year than he did last year.

I don't know what he did in the off season, but I hope he doesn't do it again. We need him and AB at full strength.

as i said before, everyone claimed he was rock solid and faster during the spring drills. all this is just crap based on his poor production I would guess.

has to do with a diff o-line and his running style more than anything more than likely.

actually jv was a lot harder during spring. The problem is he drank his ass off this summer. And before people tell me i don't know what i'm talking about let me just say that i know jv personally and have since my soph year in high school, his freshman year. I talked to him a lot this summer and everytime i talked to him he was drinking. hopefully he learns his lesson this year.

JV grew ALOT from the beginning of last year to the end of last year... I've heard some different things about how he got so much bigger so fast, but I think what happened was that he realized he had to step up when people got injured and really focused alot in the gym, off the field & on the field to become a great running back last year. It's tough to maintain that kind of mentality - just like Saban said people aren't as hungry after a National Championship, same kind of thing. I think this year will be a learning experience for him and he will realize that if he wants to compete he's going to have to give it his all. JV WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR! I've been saying it all year, and I'm sticking with it. Our running attack will be lethal next year.

If JV is truly "back" next year, I pity any defensive team we face, with this triumverant of backs. My bet is that he will be.
