BYU (6-5) vs. California (7-4) Sin City matchup features two teams that can move the ball-- each one averaging 400 + yards per game. but like the GMAC opponents, they go about it differently. The cougars, as usual, have one of the best passing offenses in the game with QB john beck (64+%, 3,357 yards, 24 tds, 11 INT) averaging more than 300 yards per game – though RB curtis brown (1,095 yards, 14 tds) helps provide a nice balance. Cal does it on the ground--marshawn (name of my first born) lynch (1,052 yards, 7 tds in nine games) leads the way. tedford benched QB joseph ayoob who had been playing for nathan longshore who was injured in the first game. steve levy (not the espn guy) will start after stopping a four-game losing streak against Stanford. The cougars have won five of their last seven--- losing at notre dame and by a touchdown in the finale against rival Utah – and are averaging 46+ pts over their last four. The bears started off 5-0 then lost four of their last six beating a 4-7 Washington State team by four and a crappy 5-6 Stanford. throwing out all the stats and going with the better athletes on Cal to win this one though not likely to cover the 8 point spread. once again, Ill go with the running team. Cal wins a shootout in typical fudgePac-10 fashion. Fashion and pac-10 are 2 words that fit nicely together. so does couture. Cal wins 40-34. ill take the over the total of 60 on this one. not that anyone cares.
I was wrong with UTEP but I have to go with Cal on this one and redeem myself...I just think that Cal has more offensive firepower than BYU. I have to agree with the "better athletes" statement tirk. Cal 35, BYU 24
LOL! I deserved that! My "bah-humbug" mood is spilling over into sports. I honestly don't think I will make it through the holidays without slapping the snot out of some one! Oh, well. Back to football.
i sure hope my girlfriend goes to bed early so i can watch the POINSETTIA BOWL right after.
Colorado State (6-5) vs. Navy (7-4) The first thing you need to know about this game is how to spell it. It’s not POINT-setta. The second is that colorado state was outscored by their opps this year. navy’s best-in-the-nation rushing attack (306 ypg) goes up against the Rams’ 104th-ranked run defense (200 ypg). Navy's option will have a field day and this will be fun to watch. colorado state will air it out pretty easily with QB justin holland (62+%, 2,804, 20 tds, 15 ints). sonny lubick is one of the best coaches at getting his teams to improve throughout the season and with a month to prepare im sure they'll have a gameplan. could be another shootout. i think navy covers the 3 point spread and wins 38-31.
