I know it's been an ongoing joke about us holding back and not really trying our best. But seriously, this is the week that we can't hold anything back. Whatever bag of tricks Crowton is working on have to be on display Saturday night. We need all hands on deck. Shepard, Holliday, KW, Scott, Dickson, Lafell, Toliver, Jackson, Randle, Mitchell, and most importantly Jefferson. Florida's defense is legit and very very good. The best back 7 in college football. Throwing the ball won't be easy. They can leave their DBs out on an island even against the likes of Lafell and Toliver. They are that good. That means a safety in the box more times than not. How do we combat it? Thoughts? PS - I think our D will contain their 0 and we'll give up about 20-23 points. How do we get to 24?
I think this is the week they let Shep throw a pass; I've felt that they've been saving it just for this game.
8 field goals. The key is our O line. They have to play their collective asses off and open up holes for the ground game and give JJ time to find open receivers. If they can I think we can get 24 points on the board. If they can't it's going to be a long night.
You're dead on here islstl. I say LET'S LIGHT 'EM UP !!!!! We have so much offensive talent we need to showcase. It's time to seriously open up the playbook. THIS IS OUR CHANCE. I believe that will provide us our best opportunity to win. IMO we will not win if we keep it conservative. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
i agree, i think Les Miles has been waiting for this moment since Tebow threw his first passes on us when he did nothing but run his freshman year. I have to believe that Meyer knows this also though. I almost wonder what would happen if we went no huddle, and didn't allow them to sub. And try to refrain from going 3 and out, keeping their defense on the field as long as possible. Jab, Jab, Jab, 4th quarter Uppercut. If we have a game in the 4th quarter, i have to feel that LSU will win. Tebow has only led the Gators to a come from behind win in the 4th quarter once. This team has only been in 1 full game since the beginning of last season, that was Ole Miss, there have been a few teams who have kept it close going into the 3rd quarter, and the 3rd quarter seems to be the most stagnant for this LSU team on offense. We have to keep it close going into the 4th. Protect the ball on offense, control the clock, and the line of scrimmage, keep Florida's D on the field as long as possible, and on Defense we have to tackle on first contact. Linebackers are the key on D for us, i hope they continue to improve.
Agree with dhead about the redzone. FGs won't win it this time (although COTiger has come up with a dastardly plan to get to 24 with only this type of score). Bayarea, let's hit him with our full arsenal of playmakers. Let's dizzy them. Anybody for a jump pass by Shepard at the 3 yard line?
With the way our OL is currently playing the coaches will have to really work overtime to implement a game plan to win. The UF D will come to play, expect their best with an unstable Tebow or back up. That said LSU will have to have the OL and JJ step up. Its also the perfect time to use Shepard in multiple positions and get him a lot more than just the 3-4 touches he has been getting. Crowton will have to keep them off balance early to get things going. Hopefully the OL takes another step forward from the first half of the UGA game. On D we will have to play more aggressively because both Tebow and Brantley are good passers. Lock up Peterson on an island with either Thompson or Riley. Allowing a free blitzer.
