in the nation behind USC. A week ago, he said LSU would not move any higher than #7. I wonder how self-served crow tastes. I just can't wait to see it happen on the field.

    Lemming's Top 25
    No. 1 USC Trojans
USC has completely dominated the West Coast. The Trojans have gotten everyone they wanted in California, except for Kyle Wright who will sign with Miami. USC has commitments from RBs Reggie Bush and Chauncey Washington, WR Steve Smith, TE Chris Barrett, LB Lawrence Jackson, DL Cedric Ellis, and OLs Travis Draper and Drew Radovich. They also have a pledge from Colorado RB Lendale White. The Trojans are still in the running for WR Whitney Lewis. As you can see, the class is deep and balanced.

    No. 2 LSU Tigers
LSU has made a big move to the No. 2 spot. The Tigers are controlling Louisiana more than I've ever seen. Some recent commitments really upgraded this class. DB Daryl Johnson and WR Craig Davis, both from New Orleans-Perry Walker, decommitted from Miami in favor of the Tigers. The recent commits from Louisiana DB LeRon Landry and Texas DL Tim Washington were huge. When you add those commits to QB Robert Lane, RBs Alley Broussard and Barrington Edwards and DL Sean Merrill, it grades out to an exceptional recruiting job. LSU is still in pursuit of QB JaMarcus Russell from Mobile, Ala., and DT Carnell Stewart from River Ridge, La.

    No. 3 Miami Hurricanes
As usual, the Hurricanes are cleaning up in Broward and Dade counties. Miami also has a commitment from the No. 2 player in the country, QB Kyle Wright. The 'Canes already have pledges from DL Eric Moncur, LB Tavares Gooden and RB Tyrone Moss. Miami is still in on a lot of big names: OL Andrew Bain, FB Joe Cohen, LB Ernie Sims, DB Antonio Cromartie and WR Andre Caldwell. This class in already good, but it could get a lot better.

    No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners are really after WR Robert Meachem and DL Xavier Lawson Kennedy. Meachem, the No. 1 prospect in Oklahoma, is the key guy. It looks like it is down to the Sooners and Tennessee for Meachem's services. Besides Meachem, OU has commits from the players they want in Oklahoma: LB Dane Zaslaw, DL Carl Pendleton and RB Courtney Tennial. What makes this class special, though, is the Texas kids: LBs DeMarrio Pleasant and Lewis Baker, DL Steven Coleman and DB Tony Cade. Oklahoma also has a pledge from California QB Tommy Grady.

    No. 5 Texas Longhorns
The Horns scored with the commitments of WR Tyrell Gatewood and LB Robert Killebrew, but haven't had a big commit since then. Texas also received big-time commitments earlier in the process from DB Tarell Brown, TE Tony Hills, WRs Michael Griffin and Limas Sweed and RB Erik Hardeman. California WR Whitney Lewis still has Texas on his list as does DL Jarvis Moss.

    No. 6 Florida Gators
Florida has become a juggernaut since QB Chris Leak's commitment. He's been a lightning rod for attracting blue chip athletes to Gainesville. DB Dee Webb is a great player, and fellow DB Reggie Nelson is a super player. LB Earl Everett, super fast RB Skyler Thorton WR Chad Jackson and OL Steve Rissler have the Gators moving along pretty good. But the Gators aren't done yet, with RB Joe Cohen, DB Antonio Cromartie, WR Andre Caldwell and LB Ernie Sims all still in play.
