I know the topic of Jennings vs. Harris has been discussed in depth, but I haven't seen an answer to this. I'd like people to try to answer something other than, "Les Miles is stubborn, he's an idiot, Bo Schembechler, etc." I want to see if there is a logical answer giving the benefit of the doubt that one exists. Maybe it's just because I'm not a football player, but I really don't understand. Isn't practice supposed to be preparation for the game? It would seem like if the game plan is to play one quarterback 100% of the time, he would get more than 50% of the reps in practice. I'm thinking (as probably most LSU fans are) Harris needs to play some meaningful time at least, but if he's not going to play, wouldn't it help Jennings to give him more reps? http://www.lsusports.net/mediaPortal/player.dbml?catid=62311&id=3545274
The fact is that we are thin at QB. Dangerously thin with only two scholarship quarterbacks. They both get practice reps because they both have to be ready to play. They both get practice reps because Harris is being given the opportunity to mature, develop, and demonstrate that he has learned something. The starter needs more time practicing with the ones, but both must develop chemistry with all the receivers and timing with all the centers.
Harris will not play and I'm not watching another LSU game until he does. If Jennings trots on to the field against A&M I'm turning the game off
Not disagreeing but do want to clarify what I think you mean before someone asks why he's not playing if "he's ready." I think red means "As ready as can be."
What I mean is that if a quarterback goes down, the other must be ready to play in terms of having practiced enough with the team. He can't be ice cold. This is regardless of whether he is mature enough, talented enough, or developed enough to be an SEC-caliber quarterback. When we are down to one quarterback he will have to play so it makes clear sense to practice the hell out of each of them.
