your Les Miles and your walking down the hill in front of your players for the North Texas game. Your mouth is dry and you see people lined up on both sides cheering and getting crazy. Let's geaux Coach !!! Your the Man Coach !!! Let's get em Coach !!! You can feel the eyes on you as beads of sweat drip off your forehead. It becomes hard to breath as you realize that in a couple of hours you are going to be Coaching your first game in Tiger Stadium. A feeling of inner panic hits you and you cant remember anything. The sound is getting even louder as you approach the door and you keep telling your legs to keep moving. You make it inside and head for the locker room. The waiting begins as you start pacing and make small talk with people trying to stay calm. A momentary reprieve from the growing pressure you feel in your gut. As the time passes you can feel the presence of what is happenning outside and you think of what the stadium is going to look like when you step out for pregame warmup. The time comes and you feel relieved and you run proudly through and out on the field . The crowd already in the stands thunders their greeting. You breath deep and take in the surroundings. Pregame warm up is over and your feeling pretty good. Some of the jitters are going away and a peacefull feeling comes over you and you start thinking about the game. A few last minute details and you gather the team for a quick speach and prayer. You start telling the team how important it is to take care of business and your heart starts pounding. You can feel your blood boiling as the adrenaline starts to take over and before you know it your ranting like a wildman. You say the prayer quickly and start filing in the tunnel. The crowd noise hits you and you feel like your heart is going to explode. Sweat is pouring down your face and then in a mass you start running toward the sidelines. 92000 fans start screaming and the band is playing and you cant believe how loud it is. Players are jumping and leaping on each other and all the sudden your mind thinks one thing. Win !!!!
It's def going to be a moment for him. But, just b/c he hasnt coached for a team that has that kind of support and crowd atmosphere, he has coached in big game environments like that. i.e Texas and Oklahoma. So, I dont think he's going to be all that nervous by that stuff. He's been there before. When I first saw the thread of this, I was thinkin " les is going to go 9-3 in 05?" lol:geauxtige
I forgot to put a crap in there somewhere. All coaches crap on gameday. It is like a rule or tradition.
Ditto. He'll probably just be thinking to himself... Let 'er Rip...Let 'er Rip...Let 'er Rip...Let 'er Rip...Let 'er Rip...Let 'er Rip...
Well, "your" Les Miles may act that way, but I think "my" Les Miles will save that intensity for the games that really count, like Tenn. Then again, it's a free country so you may do what you like with your Les Miles. I like to dress mine up in all purple, then all gold, alternating from day to day as I see fit.
it is a diff type of adrenaline from being the home team and the away team in those games... Les will love this
