From reports I have gotten...None other than Monte Kiffin-the DC of the former Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers-will coordinate the Cowboy defense...
Same source I got the LSU assistants from OSU to LSU last night...They're pretty close to the situation... It's not like I'm making this stuff up...I mean, how the hell else would I know which OSU assistants are coming to LSU?
Because it's not always about the money...Tampa's defense is crumbling, and they're in for a rebuilding job of major proportions...Their secondary is non-existent, Brooks is aging, and while Simeon Rice & McFarland provide a good nucelus on the line, they're going to be retooling... I don't think Kiffin wants the pressure of the NFL, if you asked me... Kind of like the way Woodenhofer traded in the keys at Vandy, but then went over to coordinate at Southeastern...He wanted to coach, just not all the hob-knobbing and schmaltzing necessary at a big school... Kiffin would trade in a high stress job for one that is stressful, but not anywhere near the Tampa DC job on the Maalox rate...
Hell, if he wants out of TB then give his # to Les If you read my previous post here, I've edited it. Gundy hired two of Zook's offensive guys from Illinois - one was his OC at Florida. Offensive coaches Larry Fedora and Joe Wickline http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/ncaa/01/06/bc.fbc.illinoisassistan.ap/index.html
After living in Gainesville, Champaign Illinois must have felt like the Arctic. And they probably took a closer look at the Illinois roster and recruiting prospects list. I doubt that either one of them wanted to flat-line their careers. On the other hand, looks like Gundy is going to have a decent staff. And...... I also have to wonder where Ericson is going to end up.
