I figure I can get away with starting a new thread for this because of the lull, so excuse me, but: Our preseason ranking by Sports Illustrated was 4th. (We are currently 4th in everything but the poll of the former head coach of the 1984 national champion Miami Hurricanes.) Our preseason ranking in just about everything else was near this, 5th or 6th- depending on who you ask. Just thought we should give the media some props for getting something right from the get-go.:geauxtige
Caught my attn cause I cut the AP preseason poll out of the paper and posted it to see, weekly, how off they were: 1. Ohio St. 2. Notre Dame 3. Texas 4. Auburn 5. West Virginia 6. Southern Cal 7. Florida 8. LSU 9. California 10. Oklahoma
IMHO, OU was in the top ten this year, aside from a bad call that cost them a shot at the game. Now, they may have gone on to lose, but they were playing well when they lost that onside kick and I couldn't have seen it happening.
The media never gets anything right including the news networks because everything is slanted to ones perspective.
