Anyone hear whether he might go in the major league draft as a lefthanded pitcher and outfielder? Does he plan to play baseball at LSU?
Projected to be an Outfielder and he does plan to play baseball at LSU. I heard from a reliable source a few weeks ago he will be at LSU next year if his not drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. He wants first round money and a new rule doesnt allow 3rd rounders to get that kind of money.:thumb:
Depends on were he goes in the June draft...if he goes round 1 or 2, he is probably gone. Wont even see the football field. If not, he stays and of course plays baseball for the Tigers next season.
I'm pretty sure if he decides to go pro in baseball he could still be ok for football and actually very sucessful. Mewelde Moore played pro baseball throughoght his college career at Tulane and his career in football turned out just fine in the NFL besides having a great career at Tulane. If your that good of an athlete to play both then you figure out a way to make it work.
If he goes as a first or second round pick and goes, I wont blame him. BUT, if he plays both football and baseball at LSU, he'll be a winner. The guy looks very talented in both sports. He's the no. 1 safety coming out of highschool!!! So if he has an outstanding career at LSU in both sports, he may become a top pick in the NFL and a top pick in the MLB. He'll be a 2 sports player, kind of like Deion Sanders. And that is the best you can ever get as an athlete!!
The MLB draft is an odd creature. Its not like the NFL draft where picks can be fairly predictible. Im sure Chad will be working out for scouts between now and June plus they will be keeping their eye on him during the high school season. I think a good way to gauge whats going on is if someone can find out how often the scouts are at his high school games. They have shown substantial interest in him in the past and he has been told he would go in the first or second round. Who knows if they were just talking him up but what little info is out there seems to confirm that. I've thought all along that he would get drafted pretty high. If its the first two rounds he will not play football. He has stated that baseball is his number 1 love so it stands to reason he wont pursue football if Baseball becomes viable.
Makes no sense. If he's drafted high, and given a big contract, he won't play football...that will be a stipulation of the contract. If he's drafted low, then he'll play football and baseball at LSU. Mewelde's situation was totally different, obviously.
I had no idea playing pro baseball and college football was even an option. I thought NCAA rules forbade it. Learn something new every day.
