I know there are some of you that keep up with Louisiana high school football. I was curious as to what you thought were the top 10 high schools in Louisiana that produce the highest level of college talent. I don't follow high school football and would like to start attending some high school games on Friday nights. Also, what rising stars are there to watch out for right now in high school (in Louisiana) and what high schools do they play for? Thanks in advance.
Right off the bat, I would say West Monroe. But there are others with more knowledge on the subject than myself and they may have a different take.
Evangel is one of the top 10, Hahnville has been pretty good, Rummel, John Curtis, East St. John, Shaw. There is a few that I can name off the top of my head.
I almost went to the Hahnville game last Friday night. Do they ever play out of state teams? I'm also curious about how these schools always get the top players. Do they actually "recruit" these high school players cause it seems that small high schools never get those star players.
RB from Rayville, Richard Murphy is one to look out for next year. Carencro and Breaux Bridge also have plaenty of D-1 talent. Check out the recuiting board, you may find some inf there too.
This year West Monroe has a few players. Mamou has one WR going to Michigan. Amite has a D1 prospect at RB. Usually I would say year in and year our.... West Monroe Evangel St. Augs Ehret Breaux Bridge on defense and of course Double D Parkview Several of the New Orleans area public schools have great talent but not great coaching Amite Hahnville East St. John on offense
I asked on another thread what happened to west Monroe this year? They are normally way up in the national rankings. South Panola Tigers ( ranked 9th nationally ) are leading 14-3 playing Madison Central starting the 3rd Qtr. This game is closer than it sounds, madison central came to play! They seem to have a really good defense! I hope SP Tigers can hold them off and win a back to back State 5A title. second play of SP's opening drive, Derrick went 69 yards from scrimmage to score, reminded me of JV's run agaisnt OU. 2nd play-off game of the MS state 5A championship. Our old coach " coach Stanley is doing well at meridian High. 9-1-1 a couple of players @ South panola have said they'd like to attend LSU. Some stats: 1289 yards Derrick " smoke" Pegues 102 pts this yr. he plays QB but he also plays DB wich is where he loves to play, kid loves to hit. he has bama listed but LSu is close and he hasn't commited yet. Derek Pegues VOL's recruit Pegues At least LSU is on the short List NO NOT MICHIGAN! I would think Saban would be all over this boy! Dahm War chickens tryin' to steal a Tiger! 1082 yards Ja Micheal Sanford 126 pts Tigers are averering 39 points a game on offensive while giving up a little over 9 points a game. you can hear the game HERE Click the Football South Panola
