Five SEC teams are ahead of LSU, and thanks to the genius of the "bridge schedule", we play 4 of them. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/polls/
That's a pretty good spot. Of course, we're better than that, but now the kids know we have to go out and prove it. Nice size chip for their shoulders, and not so far out that we can't eek into at least #2 by season's end, 'specially since we control our destiny with at least four of those above us. If we run it out, there'll be no argument.
I don't have any particular problem with where our Tigers are ranked to start the season. In my perfect world, the pre-season ranking would have been somewhere between 9 and 11, but I can certainly understand 13 based on the body of work last year, including the Chicken Bowl. What I can't wrap my head around is ND sitting at 11, two spots ahead of the Tigers. This is the same ND team that played nobody last year and squeaked into the NC game, where they were utterly destroyed by Little Nicky and the Gumptards. This is the same ND team that DOESN'T HAVE ITS STARTING QB because Golson is suspended for the year. Mani Te'o, like his girlfriend, is nowhere to be seen. This is a ND team that would have trouble staying in the middle of the pack in the SEC and THEY'RE RANKED 11 TO START THE YEAR? Gimme a fuckin' break. ETA: cool video
Mighty high water mark for the Tide. No way, no how on #6. Unless anyone should think that's how an SEC QB gets ready for this meat grinder of a conference. LSU will be second or Les finds a way to lose to aggieville at home. No, I don't think so. I do not like Georgia at number five. Early part of the schedule will not survive that defense .
Here's the thing, we win, we play for the marbles. It's that simple. So 13 is a great spot to be in if you ask me. Obviously LSU again has one of the hardest schedules in college football. But the thing that I find shitty is the Furman game. At first I didn't like the Kent State game either but that is Saban's alma mater and I hope we beat them 10000 to nothing. But knowing LSU it will 30-13 with 2 defensive touchdowns a rushing TD, and a late TD given up by our D in garbage time.
And losing our starting RB and most of our defense. But yeah bowl games always get the momentum going for pre-season rankings as irrelevant as the results may be.
