1. So what. We didn't play our best game, but we still won. That's the mark of a good team. Finding ways to win despite not having your 'A' game. It's irrelevant that they're ranked higher than us in the AP because we play them. Still, as defending national champions, we've earned and deserve the respect of the voters and should be ranked 2. Although they've improved dramatically and are playing great right now, Bama is not as good as people. I never believed the hype in UGA either.
  2. These polls are a joke anyway. Bama beats UGA convincingly, and deserves to be a top 5 team. However, Texas beat the bacon out of Arkansas, no less impressively than Bama did, and was ahead of Bama in the polls prior to this weekend. Texas should still be ahead of Bama. LSU should still be ahead of Bama. And Mizzou should still be ahead of Bama.

As far as USC goes, they should not be a top 15 team. They lost to a 3 TD+ underdog. They should've never been #1 in the first place, but that's a moot point now. They were dominated by a team called the Beavers, which is reason enough not to be ranked top 15...just because they were beaten by Beavers. At least UF was in the game, and only lost on a blocked extra point. UGA was beaten (soundly), but by a team that the AP now says is the second best team in the country. It is pretty much a given now that USC is going to lose at least one game a year to a totally inferior team, yet they are constantly vaulted up to #1, and spoken of as the "greatest team ever" every year. When LSU loses SEC games on the road, Miles is "underachieving". Petey? Greatest coach ever.

It is, and has been my opinion that LSU should be #1. They ended the season #1, and remain unbeaten at this point. I know it's probably taken with a grain of salt when I say it, but LSU is #1 until somebody takes it from them, IMHO. People will say that was last year, but we know why UGA and USC were so highly ranked to start this season...because of how they ended last season. So if that's the criteria, LSU should be #1, and should've been all along this season.

That said, we control our own destiny. We take care of business, and we're in. Lots of football to be played. :thumb:
  3. I agree with you about USC, they should not be ranked that high after the mandhandling OSU's oline and RB put on them. You don't play poorly against a team that has lost to Stanford and was destroyed by PSU and stay as high as USC did.

However, I have to completely disagree with you on Texas and Bama. Where a team was ranked the previous week should have no bearing on where you rank a team this week. They should be ranked according to how good a voter thinks they are. Bama beat a supposedly very good UGA, Texas thrashed a terrible Arkansas team. I'd rank Bama over Texas myself. Plus, I'm damn glad that LSU jumped an idle UGA last year in the last ballot.

As for LSU being number one because of last year, does that mean that every team in the rankings last year should have started this season off where they finished, if not why should number one be any different?
  4. Oh, well....
  5. How does USC stay in the Top 10??

USC and UGA should be out of the top 10. UGA gets beat by a top 10 team and they fall below USC who got beat by a nobody.

Ahhhh......I don't care. Just keep winning LSU....just keep winning. I'm not going to fret over polls at this point. We have a nasty stretch of games coming that I'm worried about.

  6. My thoughts exactly. I start worrying about the polls Nov 9. Until then, I want to see 'W's'.
  7. I have to agree with this. Every single player on our team has always resided in the top 10, and often the top 5, during his tenure @ LSU.

We're no longer a "johnny come lately" in college football. The Alabamas and Missouris of the current college football world are NOT as accustomed to having the target on their backs, however. Let's see how that pans out for them.
  8. If where a team was ranked last week has no bearing on where you rank a team this week, then let's put whoever plays the best game this weekend at #1.

Of course it should matter where a team was ranked last week. If USC comes back and destroys Oregon this weekend, should they be #1?

And yes...I would be OK if everyone would've stayed where they were after last year, since there are now 13/14 weeks THIS year to sort it out. Can you answer why LSU wasn't #1 coming into the season? Is it because we lost Hester? OK, we got Scott. Is it because we lost Dorsey? OK, we got RJF. Is it because we lost Perrilloux? Please say it isn't because we lost Perrilloux, because he only had two starts...and far more suspensions. So why is it? If I'm not mistaken, the team that LSU dismantled in January was ranked ahead of LSU to start the season. Then when USC dismantled them while they were without their best player, BOOM! #1!!!!!!!!!! Greatest team ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rolleye33:

The kneejerk reaction with Bama is no different. They will lose to Ky this weekend.

  9. This is getting to be the most frustrating argument in my household. I have tried to explain to my husband that we are ranked ahead of Bama in 2-3 polls but he still insists they are ranked ahead of us. He is strictly focused on the AP poll. Not even acknowledging the other two exist. It's the AP poll!! Same poll that awarded the championship to USC in 2003!! Freaking sports writers. Guilbeau has probably never suited up on a college field.
