I could see him starting eventually if he learns to hit. mcghee can play both infield and outfield but he's still really raw and would surprise me if he plays regularly. He's fast though. buzzy or garidel would be the 2nd baseman if CJ makes an nfl roster. sean ochinko is a true freshman and is going to start at 1b as well as catch. CPM said this is the best group of catchers in 25 years of coaching college. I know Lara and Wise can make it to the bigs so im anxious to see how good he is since hes already cracked the lineup. Blake Dean was set to backup left field and come in as late relief pitching but he may win an OF spot if garidel does not. id rather garidel remain as the primary backup in the infield especially if CJ does not return. i have no clue who the DH's are except the name. Mainieri thinks the pitching is going to be very good. Lots of new names across the roster but Terry Rooney is supposedly a great pitching coach who can develop kids. Something we've failed to do for some time. Since geauxrilla ball is dead, this team is going to run much more than we've ever seen. Hustle, balls to the wall, all-out play will be the personality of this team and any future ones under CPM. Also something we've never seen here. Should resemble much more of a west coast team a la the dirtbags. how is bonura a junior? I thought he was a 5th year senior last year.
Thanks for the info. That excites me! I can't wait to see this team play! Damnit! What was i thinking? :cuss: I fly back out on the 8th, and the first game is on the 9th!!! Someone please kick me!!!
actually he's lost about 20 lbs since CPM challenged him once he arrived to get in better shape and bust ass to fight for a position. And he responded unlike bogany. he may crack the outfield but its a longshot i think. due to his hard work, he will get playing time. I would have guessed he'd dh as well but his lack of discipline at the plate isnt conducive to this style of ball. id imagine this team has far less strikeouts than any in recent memory, maybe ever. then again, its a very young team: 4 seniors 10 juniors 24 fresh& soph
This is how I see it from what I've heard 1B-Ochinko (outstanding freshman who has worked to get in the starting lineup) 2B-Jackson (great defensive 2nd baseman) 3B-Wise (his bat is why he is so coveted) SS-Hollander (natural SS) LF-Dean (This kid is going to be speacial and a broken wrist is not going to stop him) CF-Mitchell (rated as the #27 true freshman in america and #4 newcomer in the SEC) RF-Waguespack (left handed bat is good sometimes) C-Lara (best defensive cather besides Liuzza that I've seen in a long time) DH-Mayer/Schimpf (up for grabs but should provide hits)
I appreciate the info tirk. I am very excited about watching a new brand of LSU baseball. Looking forward to talking my son to a couple of games.
