two projections i could find both had LSU barely in the field espn http://www.collegerpi.com/ somehow, the espn guy has us moving up. i dont have espn insider so i dont know his reasons. i would have though we were treading water at best being 2-2 over last 4 all against average teams
.....or 7-3 over the last 10. :thumb: In reality you are right though. LSU is barely hanging on to any hope right now. The bottom line is that they MUST win some road games.
LSU men's basketball is the only major sport at LSU that doesn't compete on a national level. It shouldn't be the goal of the hoops program to "make" the field of 65, that should be a given. Just making the field is a goal for the teams in the Southland Conference, not teams in the SEC. John Brady has talent on this team and for them to consistently underachieve is unacceptable and why he needs to go. I for one don't like settling for mediocrity and that's what Brady delivers. I never thought I'd see the day when women's hoops was not just outdrawing but embarrassingly outdrawing the men's team. I remember the days of the BenGals and the times when no one was at a women's game. Men's basketball has become almost an afterthought at LSU now, bordering on obsolete. Most fans focus goes from football to bowl games to Natl. Signing Day to baseball, while keeping a close eye on Spring football. As far as getting into the NCAA Tourney - doubtful at best. LSU's big wins were over Ohio State, Miss. State and Florida State, but with losses to Houston, USM, West Virginia at home, Utah and Tennessee those wins are pretty much neutralized.
The question is: can LSU manage to win 4 out of the 6 remaining games? I still say 10 SEC wins get us into the tourney. Must win at least 2 of the 3 remaining home games against Florida, Bama and Vandy. Possible? ... I think so. Must win at least 2 of the 3 remaining road games against MSU, Auburn and Ole Miss. Possible? ... highly doubtful! IMO, the best chance is to sweep the home games and pull off 1 road win. Possible? ... not feeling great about it!
I can say with confidence (I think hehe) that LSU can beat Aubarn on the road. The Ole Miss game is a tossup. The Miss. St. game is a loss. Florida at home is a tossup. Alabama at home is a loss. Vandy at home is a win. Note: These are all just my opinions! Going to be interesting. They MUST win a road game or two imo.
All I know is that I'm going to support my programs no matter how bad they do or do not stink. I'll be at the Florida game regardless.
the big games are UF and Bama. they are winnable and would influence the committee more than anything else (except maybe the USM loss or a win at MSU). so im hoping for those two big wins and one other (preferably a road win).
