the most undisciplined group of players ever seen. Even the smartest guy on the team can't avoid a crucial penalty that could have made the last two minutes alot less interesting. 12 penalties and 5 Turnovers - This will cost LSU a game eventually, maybe even next week. But at least they pulled this game out and I will celebrate tonight.
Just imagine... if UF can't win with 5 TO and 11 penalties... how well would we play if we cut those in half. Coaching staff will work hard on it, but its up to the players to execute.
I blame our offense for our only loss, there weren't as many screw-ups in that game - we just couldn't put anything together.
My theory is that our coaching staff holds these guys back so much they get frustrated and make stupid mistakes. Think about it, it makes sense. 95% of this team is the same team from last year. This kind of thing didn't happen with these guys then. We all see how as soon as we're up by a 1/2 point we go to a high school no passing attack offense. I will say just the opposite for the defense. Pelini has turned these guys loose, and they are playing dominating defense with very few mistakes.
couldn't have said it better. Not to give Niswanter a "free pass" on his holding penalty, but at least holding, and pass interference is made usually because you're being aggressive. We need to cut done a great deal on pre-snap penalties. Those are the kind that is caused by lack of concentration.
this is becoming a great team. the mistakes will stop. just gotta hope they dont cause another loss. this team can beat anyone in the country. gonna have to get to SCECG to get much credit nationally. i dont buy that the mistakes are the coaches fault. players made tons of mistakes last year--turnovers (especially early in the season), tons of drops and tons of missed INTs.
You guy sound like a bunch of chicken without its head. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
I agree and don't agree. Right before the implosion and the rash of turnovers---or, right after we went up 14-0---I was thinking the same thing: when hitting on all cylinders, this team can run with the best of them. Problem is, they're insanely inconsistent. Hate USC all you want, but those guys have enormous grace under pressure to go along with their sick athletic ability. LSU cannot say the same. As for the coaches, how do you place blame on players who did not commit 10 or more penalties and 5 or more turnovers a game in 2004 for such things in 2005? My new theory is they're not in as good a shape as they were in the past, that their technique is sound and the will is there but they simply can't get it done like they did in the past. I mean, look at Joe Addai. Every time he got downhill and into the secondary, he was quick to cover the ball with both arms/hands as soon as he sensed defenders in his area. That's coaching. Making stupid mental mistakes---that (could be) fatigue.
