:angryfire Don't undertand it. Even though we'll be #3 in the polls, it's looks like it will be very difficult to jump penn st. in the bcs. :angryfire Miami still ahead of us and West Virginia jumped us this week. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt05.htm
Actually, it's from 9 to 10 in the poll. But still, how the hell can a team with four ****!ng loses be ranked at all much less ahead of LSU? Plus three other teams with two loses are ahead of LSU. These computer polls are total BULLSH!T. They (polls) can all go to hell with Ole Piss!!!!
This is the most ridiculous poll... Three big 10 teams in top ten (including a 4loss Michigan team ABOVE LSU!)... Eight Big 10 teams in the top 28. Alabama is out of the top 30 and is just above South Fl, Michigan State is not even going to a bowl and they are 28!! If people dont realize this is incredibly pro Big 10, they need to get their heads examined. :angryfire :angryfire
That is why I don't pay attention to most polls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :geauxtige LSU! :geauxtige LSU!
Our SOS took a hit with Ole Miss' record, therefore you can win and still get hurt in the computer polls. I wouldn't put too much into it, just wait til the Georgia victory.
That's a nice theory, but the computers don't forgive all sins by winning against one good or even great team. LSU is going to be further hurt next week by Arkansas' record. By the time we play Georgia, I think beating Georgia will only get our SOS maybe to the point we were last week after Alabama. I'm really not liking our position in the computers. And after seeing us drop in two computers so far this week, it really isn't encouraging.
A little help here - it's obviously the SoS being weighted heavily here that skews this poll....so where can we see how the SoS is calculated? Based on what I see - the SoS is a function of the poll's own rankings...which are a function of the SoS.... See the problem here? What's the baseline? Also - he says the poll is UNBIASED in bold and all caps so your accusations must be wrong.
That's the problem. The SOS calculations are not public for any poll other than Colley Matrix. If you have a math degree, you can take a look at colley's and figure out how he does it. If we had public computer formulas, we could figure out exactly what each team has to have happen to go where. Granted it would be very difficult, it could be done. Since we don't have publci formulas, we have to play educated guessing games as to where a team will go if they win, lose, or their opponents win or lose there other games.
The SOS is what brings us down. Tenn lost to Vandy...but we beat Vandy so that is a wash. Bama lost to Aub but we beat Auburn so thats a wash. The others, with the exception of Mich, had teams they had played with no common opponents. At least that is what I think is happening. I have always looked at Sagarins pole and chuckled. Always thought it was pretty insignificant.
