How LSU and Georgia fared this season against its common opponents: LSU Opponent Georgia W 19-17 Arkansas W 23-20 W 20-17(OT) Auburn L 31-30 W 21-17 Florida L 14-10 W 37-7 Mississippi State W 23-10 L 30-27 (OT) Tennessee W 27-14 W 34-6 Vanderbilt W 34-17 As inconsistent as some think LSU is, and as good as they may think Georgia is, things look pretty good for us going by this.
Going by this comparison, it appears that Georgia has had poor success against ranked teams. It also appears that LSU has had steady success against ranked and unranked competition, but has an early fluke loss to a loser. So based on this stat alone, LSU should beat Georgia . . . but could have a fluke loss.
Ditto that -- let's win it! Been away the past few days for the holiday and saw this at the bottom of CParso's sig -- "Miles isn't perfect. So what. I don't care. What teams can boast having a perfect coaching staff? None. I guess having the 3rd best recruiting class in the country, being a top 5 team, & beating the third best team in the country on the road just isn't enough for some people..." Very well put indeed. I would hope the majority of LSU fans are happy with the team and results of this season. I know I am! A 10-1 record is certainly nothing to sneeze at. I think I read that this is only the eighth time LSU has won 10...not too shabby!!! Puts this year's team in some special company and there's still the opportunity to win two more! :geauxtige
In recent years, Shockley would have self-destructed against the type of pressure that LSU will bring. This year he actually looks pretty relaxed. And Richt will want to showcase Shockley to all the pro scouts who will be watching. I expect some interesting adjustments for this game. Shockley may also run more than usual by design like he did against Boise State.
That would surprise me. Richt will be trying to win the SEC and will have little time or concern for pro scouts. At least I would hope so.
anybody who saw Shockley's 4th quarter strike to beat GT recognizes he is a threat. IMO, UGA is a much healthier team right now than they were at midseason. Kregg Lumpkin is looking as good as he has in two years, and appears to have finally overcome his injury. The biggest improvement has been with the Dawgs receivers. What started out a an unreliable bunch at the beginning has turned into a decent receiver corps around the leadership of Shockley and Pope. Pope is the real deal and if LSU finds a solution on how to "handle" him, they will be the first to do so. That being said, I think this is LSU's game to lose. If JR provides leadership and the D plays steady, then LSU emerges as SEC Champs. If JR turns the ball over or pulls the 3-n-out routine, then the Dawgs will likely prevail. Getting pressure on Shock is key, and managing Pope will be the key matchup. Niswanger could have a big day in his matchup ..... and that would be huge for LSU.
