1. Virginia Tech's offense last year was probably the worst it's been in the Frank Beamer era, averaging only 22.5 ppg and 356 ypg (although 2012 was not much better at 25.1 and 377).

The QB was sacked 33 times, up from 25 the previous year.
  2. hmm, go figure
  3. Ouch.
  4. Not many, if anyone, saw this one coming. Not a very impressive year for VT's Oline, but he was only there one season so he may not have had much to work with. Miles and Cameron obviously saw something in him that made them believe he was the right person for the job, so we have no choice but to trust their decision until proven otherwise.

Like stated earlier, not a sexy hire, but they liked him at VT. I don't think you can judge the guy in one year there. Their OL recruiting sucked before he got there and he wasn't hired by Beamer because the OL was doing great. Seems his OL recruiting was a big step up for them. They had a very unexperienced line with most playing new positions under a first year position coach. Not exactly a recipe for success. He should be a step up from stud the dud in both coaching and recruiting. Time will tell if it's a great hire or just a solid hire.

  7. Not sure about the recruiting success he had at Vtech. He did end up getting 5 O-linemen to commit in 2014 but not one of them were above 3 star or even close to being a 4 star. Not that the rating are the final say on how good they will be, but it's still something to use as a basis.
  8. Well Dandy Don reported he was the front runner days ago. So based on that report, he was definitely on the radar.
  9. Yeah, I just didn't think he was the guy.
