I am glad LSU won the game and the West, but no one can be happy with the offense. The offensive line simply did not do their job. Russell was constantly under too much pressure and the running backs had a devil of a time finding holes. Secondly, I am very concerned about the tendency of Coach Miles to get too conservative too early in the game. Yes, there is a time to get conservative, but the start of the second half is not it. If he does not develope a more aggressive, go-for-the-jugular style of play, he will have a very difficulty time at LSU. But we won (this time) and I guess that is the bottom line. I just hope the Tigers are more ready to play Georgia than they were Arkansas, or it December 3 will be a long day for them.
LSU's playcalling is so transparent it's a fuggin joke. I watched the game and talked with an uncle at the same time. I know LSU's formations and called every play correctly until the First Down Brazell TD reception in the 2nd Quarter. Christ, it's like watching Cholly Mac (God rest his soul) FB all over again with one difference. LSU's first down passes (short and over the left side) are just a glorified and "PREDICTABLE LONG DISTANCE HANDOFF". Georgia's DC must be licking his chops at a chance to 3-and-out LSU for an entire opening quarter! Georgia gets GT this weekend ... and Shockley (still not 100%) is very likely to take some serious licks! He's the key to this game!
I thought they were still doing fine with their offensive drives until the turnovers start to plaque the efforts and took the air out of the balloon, or ball:hihi: It was also a shame that Addai got hurt again which was definitely a factor. ________ No2 vaporizer
More aggressive? Did you even watch the game yesterday because we went deep a number of times, the balls were just overthrown or the recievers dropped them. Again, it's not the coaches fault that we had to get conservative because the PLAYERS weren't executing. The coaches weren't out there not blocking or dropping passes.
Agree. I've been critical of our conservative passing game this year, but not yesterday. We shot ourselves in the foot with too many drop balls that would have resulted in big plays and/or 1st downs to keep drives alive. We forget how little things like a penalty on 3rd down on our 1st series negated a 1st down. Who knows what would have happened on that drive if not for that penalty. Some will say that is coaching, but I believe players need to be held accountable as well.
Play calling is a joke and utterly transparent ... DCs are eating LSU alive and holding the rushing attack to 100 YPG ... The rushing attack needs to be at 150-200 YPG ... but drives aren't sustained because teams don't really respect LSU's vertical game. Repeat lame performance against Georgia is likely ... along with the sorry and transparent play calling. I'll bet LSU doesn't throw 5 long balls (25+ yards) against Georgia and a suspect defense. LSU will try to RUN OVER Georgia ... without the deep threat ... using those lame short passes over the left side ... Less Smiles & his eunich Jimbeaux ... one or both better wake up before next week ... or maybe Ga Tech will take Shockley out for us ... What's that Hollywood well-wisher's cliche ??? Break a leg!
