The game was postponed when Baton Rouge and LSU became staging grounds for the relief and recovery effort of Hurricane Katrina. The change will require North Texas to play at LSU on Oct. 29, when it was originally scheduled to host Louisiana-Monroe in Denton. The game against Louisiana-Monroe will now be played on Nov. 19, which was originally an open date for the Mean Green. “Because of the cooperation of our president Dr. Norval Pohl along with Dr. James Cofer at Louisiana-Monroe and Dr. Wayne Andrepont at Louisiana-Lafayette we were able to come to an amicable resolution with the administration at LSU,” Athletic Director Rick Villarreal said. “Bobby Staub at Louisiana-Monroe and David Walker at Louisiana-Lafayette were also very instrumental in the effort. I would also like to thank our head coach Darrell Dickey who has supported this process through a very difficult time for everyone.” With Louisiana-Monroe coming to Denton on Nov. 19, it was forced to reschedule its game with Louisiana-Lafayette, which will now be played on Nov. 26. North Texas will have to move its homecoming that was scheduled for the Oct. 29 game. “I am pleased that the three Sun Belt schools could come to the aid of LSU at a time when it faces many difficulties,”North Texas President Dr. Norval Pohl said. “I applaud the effort of Athletic Director Rick Villarreal and his counterparts to bring this to a workable solution.” Revised North Texas Football Schedule Sept. 10 at Middle Tennessee Sept. 17 Tulsa Sept. 24 at Kansas State Oct. 4 Troy (ESPN2) Oct. 15 at Florida International Oct. 22 at Louisiana Tech Oct. 29 at LSU Nov. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette Nov. 12 at Florida Atlantic Nov. 19 Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 26 Arkansas State
So we get UNT a week after the home Auburn game & the week before the Appalachian St game. That'll do. 4 home games in a row! That will be a fun month. But it comes after our toughest tests - ASU, Tenn & Florida. In a row. That will be a tough, tough month for this LSU team.
Bertman, regardless of his position on the matter, has already stated that the logisitcs of a Saturday night/Sunday morning sequence in Tiger Stadium are feesible. So, no.
It's not like we're talkin about the LSU baseball team playing at TS and then having to get the field ready for football.
And when some say that an Oct. 29th game would give us 10-straight games is a bad thing, they forgot that Appalachian St. will play out to be nothing more than an off-week for the majority of our starters. I'm just glad that we get a full 11-game regular season schedule. Kudos for the assistance by ULM and UL-Lafayette as well, for working with us to get this game in.
