I watched it... and it WASNT perfect... But positive progress was made... You can't argue that You can't expect to play a game where the other team was losing all game, and expect no one to ever be open
no we did make progress. I was more dissappointed with the out routes that we gave up early. I wasn't really mad about the bomb but all the blown coverages do concern me.
certainy improvements were made, but I have to see the trend continue in order to gain confidence in this coaching staff. beating miss state is nothing to brag about, but big improvements were made.
Looks like you were right on for those of us expecting a 31+ point margin. And that one's David's fault for hitting the upright.
it was agaisnt MOO U. Even coach croom said after the game LSU was twice the talent his team was. We're gong to win the majority of our games based on the talent Saban left here. that's good. what's bad is that it is like masking tape over poor coaching. I HOPE this doesn't go on too long. thanks for the win Tigers! :geauxtige
I'm sorry to butt in here...but I just can't believe anybody's pass defense is worse than ours. After the number SC did on us, you have to have a long way to drop to get to our level. :sob:
After watching the game in a quiet, relaxed, alcohol-free environment tonight, it appears as if the defense may be learning the 'scheme' a little better. Yeah, yeah, it was against undermatched athletes...I know, so save it. But there simply weren't as many wide-open recievers, and the zone showed how it can be really, really effective and put the players in a better position to get turnovers if played right. Prudes reception in the end zone was a good example. Conner had no idea that Ronnie was even on that half of the field. All he saw was a wide, wide open WR in the end zone. Ronnie read it like a book and shot across to make the pick. Another good example was on the near-miss pick-6 by Daniels. The WR had 3 DBs within close range. When the pass was made, they all converged on the ball. I hear coaches and analylists talking pretty frequently about a certain unit finally 'buying into' a particular coach's system, thus allowing their success. I'm hoping that's the case with our defense. Perhaps the transition from Sabans D to Pelini's was too drastic for the players to adjust to right off the bat. Maybe they needed a good group of scrubs to practice at full-speed on and find their rhythm. Rhythm and familiarity are so overwhelmingly important in football. Let's hope this was what the defense needed to finally get both of those. And as a side note, that terrible performance vs ASU suddenly doesn't look so terrible now, does it?
No it still looks terrible. I agree with the rest of your post, but to give up 560 yards to anyone is unacceptable. ASU's offense was pretty inept the second half. Pete Carrol made adjustments at halftime and also his offense and special teams decided to stop giving ASU good field position.
This just in: LSU no longer ranked last in the nation. Number 58 now. If we try really hard, we can catch numbers 1 & 2, UConn and Tulane, respectively. I'd give anything to have the defensive units of those 2 powerhouses.
