1. California beats USC 2. USC beats Notre Dame 3. Arkansas beats Florida in SEC CG 4. WVU beats Rutgers 5. Ohio State kills Michigan (e.g., 41-7) Final polls: 1. Ohio State 2. LSU 3. West Virginia 4. Michigan Option #1 and #5 are least likely. USC looked great yesterday. We all know how badly Cal looked. But then again, Cal should rebound nicely after a loss. We shall see. Options #2, #3 and #4 I believe will take place. If you believe in these 5 things happening, then you are witnessing LSU being ranked #2 in the nation at seasons end. Of course, LSU beats Arkansas in this scenario. All of these things are somewhat likely to happen singularly, but ALL of these things happening would be just short of a miracle. Do you believe in miracles? Remember 2003.
Or.. how bout some realism... Teams ahead of LSU (at #9) in the coaches poll are Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, USC, Notre Dame, Arkansas, West Virginia and Rutgers... LSU will beat Arkansas... thats 1... USC will beat Notre Dame... thats 2... West Virginia will beat Rutgers... Thats 3... That puts LSU in the top 6... if the BCS reflects the polls, that puts LSU eligible for an at-large for a BCS bowl...
Question: Wouldn't it seem likely that the loser between OSU and Mich would be the higherst ranked 1 loss team in the BCS?
That's what I thought but don't know how their SOS is. Would be a great scenario if possible and played out like that but I am still excited about our team. Even with two losses, the rest of the country recognizes how good we are and I hear it often from other fan bases and the media. :geauxtige
I think that why he mentioned that Mich would have to get absolutely crushed. If Ohio St. beats them by 30, then the pollsters may not want to see a rematch between two teams that obviously won't be a very competitive game. It's a long shot, but it's possible.
There is obviously a human nature to the AP and Harris Poll. That means the voters may drop Michigan somewhat significantly if they lose to Ohio State just to avoid a rematch. Nobody wants to see that so they may kill that option to forward their agenda. (I know, it's crazy to think the AP would forward their agenda but it's possible)
Would it be conceivable, also, that LSU would be ranked #2 in the BCS? Or would Mich claim that by having only one loss? How about if Arky loses to Miss St and us? And, Bama beats the barners (may not even be necessary). Tigers geaux to SECCG for rematch with Florida and spank them. That would be pretty sweet, wouldn't it? That extra game, against highly ranked one loss Florida could, possibly, do us a lot of good? I think we need to be big, big, Miss st bulldog fans this week!
