I'm actually shocked at the number of times the mercy rule is used considering the athletes on the mound.

It's not something I'm being quiet about, just very few sports fan (on forums like this) talk about softball. Same with gymnastics.

I've watched Pat Murphy fairly closely since he was promoted from asst. to HC in '99. In those 8 years, he's had the team in the NCAA tourney 7 times, World Series appearances in 4.

    Little trivia fact for you...

If you look around the NCAA at the winning percentages of softball coaches, you'll find 4 coaches from SEC schools.

    3. Y. Girouard, LSU
    4. L. Harris-Champer, Georgia
    8. P. Murphy, Alabama
    10. Karen Weekley, Tennessee

I love the venue we have in T-town. In the picture below, you can see the grassy areas on the left and right side of the seating. Those areas are hills, and tend have quite a few sitting on the ground and watching.

(FWIW, you'll find your beer drinkers, etc. there mostly.)

The team has lost less than 10 games at home since it was built. CLICK HERE for a tour

Acton is a small mountain city not too far from L.A. and close to Palmdale.

I'm sure she enjoyed avocados, and lots of fruits and nuts, don't ya know?

This race for the SEC West is coming down to the wire!!! Geez, the SEC as a whole is!!

Heck, it's hard believing here we are ranked #2 in the nation, but 3rd in the SEC and 2nd in the West.

Both of those games with UT are going to be on ESPN, the first one on the "Duece."

I'm confident we'll come out of this weekend having won 17 straight since we are facing UK.

The recruiting aspect of this game catches my eye every year. It's nothing like any other sport, with the exception of Gymnastics. (Good Luck tomorrow night, by the way.) I noticed on our roster before the season started that we were mostly SE girls, but it was very spread out between AL, FL and GA. Throw a few in from TX, one from WA, one from CA. Diverse group!! Talk about a lot of different personalities coming together, eh?

BTW, you guys got real lucky with the draw for sessions in gymnastics. I don't believe I've ever seen the #1, 2, and 3 teams in the nation end up falling in the same session. Granted, it's the top 3 from each session that advance...but, weird draw.

I really expect to see you guys in Friday's competition. You have some competition in Utah and UCLA, and the other teams there are pretty good.

What's crazy...if the (I wanted to use the term "breaks," but I don't think that is appropriate :hihi: ) If the chips fall where they may, we may see 4 of the 6 teams competing for the NC all hail from the SEC.

Thanks- I hope I get to see Monica Abbott against ET. Abbott is special- coming into the season she was fourth on the all-time NCAA Division I strikeout list with 1716 K's. Was also fourth all-time in NCAA victories with 139.

I just looked and didn't realize that Tennessee has EIGHT girls (Including Abbott) from California.

Take a bit of time next year and try to catch a meet. It's a great entertainment value for your dollar, especially if you have kids because it is so fan friendly.

I'm not surprised I follow this more closely than most...this makes the 25th or 26th year in a row we've made the NCAA Championships. And, FWIW, don't ask Auburn fans what the gymnastics streak is against their team.

Tide-bit: Our coach, Sarah Patterson, was actually hired by ________ , I'm sure you can guess.

Easy........good move having an LSU fan ask them cause if I were a bama fan I wouldn't ask an Auburn fan anything about "Streaks".

And that surprised you...........why? They may prefer the Cali sun in their early years but I guess they prefer a Southern shower or two once they get to college.
