I'm no longer linked with Tidefans.com, but this I can assure you of...Jess knows his football. Great guy, outstanding perspective, and.....IF, I may add...he's been over 80% with his W's vs L's over the last 10 years.
Jess has the defense down extremely well. On offense, I think he undercredits our wide receivers, hasn't heard about Richard Murphy yet, over credits our offensive line, and is under the impression that Perrilloux is in legal trouble. But Terry is right, Jess' previews over the last four or five years have been outstanding and accurate.
Overall, a very good assessment. I would agree with Red that he has our O line rated a tad high and I'm not sure that I agree with his Vg assessment of special teams. Too many unknowns, I would rate them Fr. Thanks for posting. :thumb:
Overall a pretty good in depth analysis, but there's another bama man saying a big question mark is Miles, wonder if he wins a SECC they'll give any credit to him, or they'll just say Saban's won 3 now. I'm kind of worried about offensive line depth and replacing Laron, but other than that, I really think if we get a couple of good bounces, we can be in Atlanta. Even with the home schedule we still can't have bad calls (Auburn) and multiple turnovers (Fla.) but I love our chances.
Terry, Thanks for a great post from Tidefans.com, it looks thorough and well researched. Some on this forum have referred to Bama fans as delusional since last fall when the rumors on saban going there started. I agreed they were delusional to think saban would consider it, since he had a plum job with the Dolphins. I was wrong. I think it was Terry I was talking about, so Terry, I apologize. When I read over at Tidefans, it is obvious that some see the world through crimson shaded glasses, like we see the world through purple and gold. But they generally are not delusional. I read their picks for all SEC team, 3 deep, and they seem pretty realistic and well grounded to me. Their fans gave LSU players more respect than the media did!
On the Bama board, some are very fond of saying that LSU has underperformed the last two years under Les. Let's see. . . in each year LSU started in the top 10, finished in the top-5, won 11 games, and blew out a top-10 team in a bowl game. If that's considered underperformance in Tuscaloosa, I'd hate to be Nick.
Many (including myself) are of the opinion that LSU has been so loaded with talent the past two years that he should have been playing for a MNC in at least one of those years. He's got enough talent this season that many feel he should play for it this season. The issue is kind of hard to avoid. Hell, when you have as many players drafted in the first round as y'all the question is bound to come up. Just because a team is believed to underachieved doesn't mean they didn't statistically have a good year. Yeah, y'all had a good year. But I still think the best two teams didn't play in the SEC Championship game. Take from that what you will. As for as hating to be Nick. Why? I'd love to be Nick and collect $4 million/year. At the end of the day all they can do is bitch, throw some bricks and fire you. Whoop T Doo. I've endured worse for MUCH MUCH less money. :hihi:
