I know that most of the TigerForums community is not made up of students but as a student I think it is ridiculous how LSU handles post season tickets for their students. LSU was given nearly 16,500 tickets to the SEC Championship game and only allotted 1,500 tickets for a student body of 30,000+. Ofcourse there were many students who requested tickets and were turned down. Meanwhile I am reading that Notre Dame was given 15,000 tickets for the Fiesta Bowl and allotted 2,500 tickets for their students. Notre Dame's student population is not even 9,000 strong. I know it's great for LSU supporters of all ages to get the chance to go to the games but someone who is an alum and is making money has a better opportunity to purchase tickets for slightly above face value which most colege students cannot afford to do. Notre Dame seems to be taking care of its students and shouldn't that be the way it is the current students who are the true pulse of the University. Oh well, thanks for listening to my gripe.

It will always be that way...I had the same gripes 20 years ago. It's all about the money.

Sorry, but it's not about you, the student. Big-time college athletics is about the money, about the foundation members, about the big cigars. Regretable, but true.

DDTiger, all I can say is to treasure those awesome seats you get in Tiger Stadium right now as a student. When you reflect on that, and the cost of those seats, you will quickly realize it is not all that bad.

LSU students are poor louisiana kids who cant afford Bowl tickets. One day, when you are all larded out, sitting in a lawn chair in your living room watching tiger games, I want you to remember that my steaks cost more than your tickets.

    Grow up.

LSU has often cut back students ticket allotments over the years, with a variety of justifications. There is a sense all who enter LSU will become life loyal fans regardless, with stadium count numbers to spare. This policy is shortsighted at best, ignorant and condescending at worst. Give it another decade, and students will be losing their sideline seats, banished to the upper deck.

Most of those tickets for the bowl games are given to high dollar TAF and season ticket holders. Nothing wrong with that in of itself, but so many are then traded and passed around. It would be interesting to see how many allocations are actually utilized by the primary recipient(s). Certainly more should go to students than 1,500 - that's a joke.

For an institution increasingly dependent upon donor revenue, LSU does a poor job of building relationships with students. The school relies almost entirely upon lore and fable, not practice. Notre Dame understands what it takes to produce a life loyal alum - the kind a private school must have if it is to build the necessary endowment higher education now requires. Much of this goes beyond athletics, but sports provides the most accesible venue for building love of the school with current students and allowing alums to remain involved.

Not only is there a sort of disrepect toward students but it is a slap in the face when the members of the state legislature is alloted 2 free tickets.

Come on. Season tickets are a bitch, but how hard is it to get tickets before the game for a fair price?

In a post-Katrina Louisiana, one should hope the two-tickets-per-legislator practice would go away. Its time to rid ourselves of the vestiges of the past.
