I like it. It's a BCS conference team but not too dangerous for a first game. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to make progress in recruting up there. I don't think we've gotten to many recruits from that area. Ben Voogd is the only one that comes to mind and I can't think of anyone in football. Am I missing someone.

YES! Finally we are scheduling a road game against a BCS school. I'd like to see someone of higher quality than Washington, but the effort is the important thing to me at this point. I was sure we'd fall into the "gotta have 8 home games a year" trap.

One interesting thing to consider is that we have a rough recent history when it comes to having our season opener against teams from other major conferences:

    2009 -- Washington
    2005 -- Arizona State W 35-31 (ASU had 560 yards, LSU had 434)
    2004 -- Oregon State W 22-21 (OSU had 315 yards, LSU had 302)
    2002 -- Virginia Tech L 8-26

PURPLE TIGER HOPE is not a strategy!

That will make for a nice road trip! I remember playing them in the early 80's. We lost early that year to FSU and thought we had everything corrected in blowing out a highly ranked Washington team a week or two later. The wheels fell off after that and the Jerry Stovall tenure came to an end. The Dalton-James gang rebounded the next season with Bill Arnsparger running the show.

Washington wasn't very good last year but I think they came close to upsetting USC.

I think we've won the last nine or ten games versus the PAC-1 so hopefully the trend will continue.
