with all the uproar over the Apala St. game, lets not forget the gem of the schedual. Sept 10, at home v. currently 19th ranked Arizona State. i'm not saying this makes up for playing a D1-AA school, but it helps

We may as well start looking at this one now only about 207 days to go. :hihi:

yea, having ASU on the schedule is a real booster, we might as well just play 2 OOC games instead of scheduling Div-I-AA teams...

b/w USC and the lackluster performance vs OSU last year, i'd say we have an axe to grind w/ the pac-10.

By the time we get to Appy State, ASU will probably have fallen off the top 25 list and will be considered a "rent-a-win" as well...

Very good point. The Athletic Department can put as much spin on this as they want, talking about all the preseason top 25 teams on the schedule, but it doesn't mean crap until the end of the season.

Teams like Arizona St may or may not live up to their preseason hype. One thing that is 100% certain to remain the same, both today and come January, is Appy State will be seen as a Div 1AA creampuff.

Oregon St's next game after playing us sure took some luster off of our win vs them.

I agree completely basically all the computer formulas will not even count this game and LSU will be one game behind everyone in the standings. This move is one of the dumbest moves ever by the Athletic Dept. Did they not see what happened to Auburn last year by playing a bunch of cupcakes.

Unless they change it, strength of schedule is pretty much a non-factor computer-wise now that the two big polls make up two thirds of the BCS formula. It weighs much more heavily towards human opinion now and that I-AA really sticks out next to 'Bama and Ole Miss. If we miss out, there is no one to blame except for Skip who's simply succumbing to the pressures of making a few bucks that week. How much $$$ will they miss out on if that game is the reason that LSU doesn't get a shot at the Rose Bowl?

What really stinks is that there are two options: Appy State and a Bye. Playing Appy State is definitely tougher than having a week off, but that's not how it will read in the polls/papers.

Have we already forgotten Auburn's mishap this Bowl Season? Do we want a similar situation where there are three "worthy" teams left undefeated, but only one has a I-AA team on the schedule despite playing more ranked teams than the other two?

It isn't fair, but let's not kid ourselves and say it won't happen. It already did.

What cost Auburn was starting out #20 in the preseason polls & OU/USC starting out 1-2. Also, Auburn played ULM, La Tech & The Citadel for their OOC opponets. We will have a bowl team in NT, a top #25 team in ASU, as well as at least 3 other ranked SEC teams. I seem to remember us winning an NC with a non-conference schedule of La Tech, ULM, Western Carolina & a sorry a$$ Arizona team when SOS meant even more than it currently does.
