We need everyone ahead of us to lose. That might take a miracle. I'd love to see a LSU vs USC for the national championship.

IMO, the odds against LSU winning its next five games are greater than the odds against being in the Sugar Bowl should that happen. It would just take a couple of late season losses by other teams. Does anyone really think that if Oklahoma were to lose in the Big XXII Championship game to a two loss team from the South (say, Nebraska) that either Nebraska or Oklahoma would be ahead of a one loss LSU team coming off a SECCG victory?

There are only six teams ahead of us, fellas: Ok, Miami, Fla St, Ohio St, USC, and Georgia. I'm ignoring the one loss teams (and TCU) behind us, because if LSU wins out they should stay ahead of them. Georgia will be out of the way one way or the other if LSU wins the next five. That just leaves four teams to pass, each with some dangerous games ahead. Also, by the end of the season the Tigers could even vault a one loss team that is currently ahead of them. That being said, winning the next five is the TOUGH part. I believe the odds are against it, but LSU does have the team to do it this year.

I'm telling you all right here and now: IF LSU wins their next five, they WILL be in the Sugar Bowl playing for the MNC. That is a big IF, though, and what they need to focus on right now is winning the NEXT ONE.

There are only 6 teams in front of us, but there are also a few teams behind us that will jump in front of us based on Strength of Schedule. First, there's Washington State, who will be ahead of us if they beat USC this weekend. Michigan State also needs to lose one, because they will probably shoot up the rankings because of there schedule.

Would Michigan State be able to vault over us if we beat La. Tech, who they lost to?

I don't call a shot at the MNC a pipe dream. There is a shot. Yes, we need providence on our side, but name a NC team that isn't lucky.

Regardless, we need to win out and then see where everything lands. We will have no one to blame but ourselves if we go 12-1 and don't make it to the Sugar Bowl.

Only if we lose another game.

I disagree. We could blame polls, computers, and the BCS formula!;)

Well, the polls don't work like that. The way the polls will see it is while we're beating La. Tech, they're beating Michigan and Ohio State. Those two will jump up Michigan State's SOS also.

I am standing by these statements that I wrote on October 30. IF LSU wins out, they WILL be in the Sugar Bowl playing for the MNC. That would be just too impressive of a streak to ignore - even though the Ole Miss victory was a tight one, and even if either or both of the next two are tight. when I originally wrote the above, the Tigers had to win 5 more to get to Sugar. Now, it's down to two! I still think the odds are against this, but now only very slightly. It may be about 50-50. But, make no mistake, if (WHEN!) we win the next two, we will be bound for the SUGAR BOWL!!!!
