I was reading some article on the Horn site saying something to the effect that the Tigers have never won a game in the early season against a out of conference ranked opponent. .... something to the effect the Tigers were going for a first. But as I recall, we ruined Oregon ... defending champs in 2013. So I don’t know where this guy gets this crap. I didn’t go back and check, but I think Oregon was ranked.
LSU and Oregon were both top 5 at the time. I don't know about the actual record, or beginning, middle or end of season, but I do know LSU's record is very poor when playing on the road (not neutral site, which the Oregon game was) in a matchup of top 10 teams. Also LSU is just 1-7-1 vs Texas in Austin, but the last such meeting was in 1954.
Sept. 3, 2011 Arlington, Texas #4 LSU 40, #3 Oregon 27 Yes, it was a neutral sight, but LSU played at West Virginia 3 weeks later and won big also. Sept. 24, 2011 Morgantown, W.Va. #2 LSU 47, #16 West Virginia 21 In the last 10 years, LSU has played a bunch of neutral site opening games, winning every one except 2016 Wisconsin. Sept. 3, 2016 Green Bay, Wisc. Wisconsin 16, #5 LSU 14 Its nice to see that we've gone back to playing home/home series with big named teams. Texas 2019/2020, UCLA 2021/2024, Clemson 2025/2026, & Oklahoma 2027/2028.
