The scenario plays out the same way every game. Our Front 6 shut down the run ----> opponents offense has to resort to a mostly pass game -----> they lose. With all the hoopla about WVU passing game, all I see is that we skip the first step. They just go straight to passing ... they lose. Our DBs are so good that QBs often times don't even get to make the pass ...thus setting up opportunities for sacks and throw aways. They are just that dang good. Sometimes, I think they live in the shadow of our awsome run defense ... but these guys are GOLD!! :LSU231: Wondering how many ints we get this game. Ya KNOW it's gonna happen.
An ESPN analyst said he thought LSU has the best secondary in the country. To quote my nephew (who writes for a Fantasy football site) "LSU's defensive line looks like an immovable force". Top secondary + immovable line = trouble.
When Lee threw that pick in the 2nd. half at Miss. st., that was exactly the point where in the last couple of years, LSU would turn an easy victory into a nailbiter, like the UNC game last year. But the defense merely shrugged, said no sweat, we got this, and that was that. VERY impressive.
That little pooch/onside kick attempt in the second half last week is easier to call when you have a lockdown defense should you not recover the kick.
And with our lousy ass kick coverage, we miteaswell onside it every time, they get the same field position, and no opportunities for returns
Miles said the ball sliipped out of JL's hand as he was throwing it (probably accounting for it sailing high/longer than intended). 1 INT out of 132 attempts isn't bad TIGERS! :geauxtige
In a way...I'm glad he got the INT out of his system. He threw the INT and they still played well on offense & defense any won the game easily. He needs to know one mistake won't kill this team. I actually believe he gained more confidence by throwing it and then recovering than having the no-INT streak hanging over his head. That may sound weird but I think it's part of his progression. I can't think of anything better than Lee rebounding from his freshman year. That poor kid was thrown under the bus in 2008 after RP's stupidity, poor planning, bad luck, and numerous injuries. I would LOVE to see him lead us to a title.
Did he have any pass attempts/completions after the INT? Just wondering, because I can't remember =S Yup in 2008 he was the *third string* qb... RP sent packing then Hatch got injured...
