6'5" 293 lb OT from the state of Ohio has narrowed his list down to 5 schools. LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois and Miami. He is the 4th rated OT on scout.com and is a 5 star recruit.
so we're still taking O-linemen? what's the limit we take in order so we can still fill our needs at other positions?
We may take one more, Filo seems like the one. We might be taking him just because we figure he'll do his mission and won't count towards the class. Not sure if we would take anyone else that would indeed count towards the class. Although someone like Hall would be almost impossible to pass up.
I agree we take one more but I think the coaches feel that Filo is a must take as well. I also do not think the coaching staff are assuming he takes his mission since the last news on the mission status was that he may never go on a mission according to his dad. No one knows so I do not see Miles just assuming that. Same goes for Wilson.
I thought I read somewhere that XSF was liable to take a mission but Wilson was not devout (maybe even not LDS)? I can't find the reference, though. But I thought it was more than a message board or blog.
Both are cosidering a mission and have said so many times. After the LSU camp both of their fathers explained that they have not made up their minds and it is very possible they never even leave for a mission. So they could not go at all, go after a year or two of college, or go right after their senior year of HS. One is not dependant of the other and it would not be smart for the coaches to assume anything since they do not even know yet.
Doubt we'll get him, he seems to be going for Ohio St. Not sure what their O-Line situation is like but he'd have a pretty good chance of playing relatively early here. We don't have too much depth.
I assume you mean in 2009? And even then, I'm hearing good things about the second team right now, plus the class we already have committed. So I'm not sure exactly why you think we have a depth problem. We could always use a 5 Star! But I'd like to know more about why we have a depth problem.
I doubt we get him, Im sure he is an OSU fan. Depth problem is too strong a word. Inexperience is much better. LSU has a lot of guys who were highly touted but havent played to prove themselves. Lack of depth is when you have guys who have played and there is a big fall off. We arent really sure what the young guys can or cant do. I say another OL is a bigger need than RB though, even if we get Filo.
Rivals isn't as high on him as is Scout.com. They have him at 4 stars and lists him as 6'0". Also, in view of the fact that we already have committments from 4 offensive linemen, I am not so sure we offer anymore.
