I don't know what happened to the thread about Matt Flynn seeing playing time this weekend against troy; it suddenly disappeared from the list of postings on page 1, and I can't find it on the subsequent pages....

Anyway, the last discussion was on the perception that some of the fans were implying poor coaching for JR's performance. I think the point was not that the coaches are bad; JR has got to take responsibility for his own development and break his old habits. He's got to master the fundamentals to complement his physical talent. Hope his major mistakes in the last game help him finally realize what the coaches have been trying to teach him and yell at him for during practice.

    Carface What the...?

I like JR as much as the next guy, but he totally telegraphs where he's going to throw. He can't keep his eyes off of the receiver. He's also bad about not throwing the ball away when under heavy pressure.

I was living in Mobile before getting transfered during J-Rocks last 2 years at Williamson. A guy I worked with was a big Williamson fan and took me to several games during his Junior season. When I found out LSU was recruiting him we went to almost all their home games during his senior season and a couple a playoff games.

Russell, to me anyway, was a helter skelter type QB. he flew by the seat of his pants. The Williamson offense was pretty vanilla and relied completely on Russell improvising plays...which he did very well with that rocket arm. It worked in HS but obviously it hasnt carried over to College.

I'm not surprised to see these questions about Russell considering he didnt have very good coaching in HS. If you saw him play in HS you would appreciate these issues more. Williamson is also a pretty poor school and there wasnt any money to develope that program or upgrade the coaching. Nick and Jimbo have a difficult task harboring Russells natural ability and making him more disciplined. The fact he was never that disciplined in HS makes the task even harder.

This is the best Quote I've seen by Coach Saban regarding JR. It pretty much speaks volumes considering how little Nick says about these things.

Russell is going on year #2. He still needs time learn the system. I would love to see Flynn get a chance to play a whole 1/2 this weekend. I think Russell needs a week off to think about his 2 picks.
