I like how they spin things to save face. Do they think anyone believes what they say after all of the gay love fest some media outlits showed a few years ago for a certain west coast team proclaimed 'team of the century'? " I did not sleep with that woman..." Hell, that was more convincing than this sorry piece. I think I'll trash my subscription to CFN after only 1 year.
I really don't know what the media would have wanted from him. I don't think he could have handled this situation any better than he did. There really is nothing he could have done where he wouldn't be criticised by the media. It just makes a better story to criticise than to say he did the right thing and handled the situation properly.
When Miles was hired by Oklahoma State he was offered a $700,000 salary but told the officials that a good part of that should go to his coaching staff. He told them "I can do with $400,000." That should tell you something about Les Miles' character.
I kind of like it that Miles has this reputation of being crazy. I used to have a friend that thrived on this scenario. Those who knew him realized he was a lot smarter than people thought. He reminds me of a poker player. He keeps everyone guessing... wondering what he will do next. That is a great fear to put into opposing coaches, for example: will he punt? will he go for it on fourth down? is it a fake? what the heck is he going to call now? who will the running back be? who will the QB be? he can't possibly go for it on fourth down again, can he? I like it. It is so opposite of Saban, (don't get me wrong, I was a huge Saban fan). I am proud to say that I have always been behind Miles, I consider him "our" coach, and I always have. "Have a GREAT day"
My arguement would be if Miles really wanted the Michigan job and he had accepted it like it was reported then he would be gone. End of story. What reason on God's green earth would he stay here if he didn't really want to be here? Alien mind meld?
He will be a very stupid man that's gonna be earning top 3 coaches money and will have a National Championship...I'm guessing he won't mind being called stupid, I wouldn't.
So let me get this straight: If you're honest, a straight-shooter (Miles), you're an idiot. If you're a weasel (Saban, Petrino), you're a horrible person. What do these guys want? Good grief. :insane:
