Tom Friend of ESPN posted a sob story of Clarett's situation. "What really happened to Clarett "

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft05/columns/story?id=2001738

Where he was so enthralled last year by how "cut" Greg Jones was (and how out of shape Clarett was), so he bulked up this year.

Then all of a sudden, tried dropping 50 lbs of mass over a two month span or something in an attempt to slim down again, which caused his FB like 40 times.

Cry me a river, why don't you. . .

To me the story is not his slow times in the 40, plenty of players haven't done well in the 40 at the combines and gone on to make it in the NFL. The "real" story is that he QUIT. Rather than complete the other physical tests after the 40, Clarett bolted. He is a quitter. Is this the guy you want running the ball for you late in the game when you are behind ? Its a cliche but winners NEVER quit !

NFL Execs, who invest millions in their draft picks, only care that he ran a 4.8. They really don't give a damn why.

I agree. He said he had changed before the combine....quit after a bad time...and people think he has really changed?
