    LSU record for sacks in a career:

    1. Rydell Malancon ('80-''83) --25
    2. Ron Sancho ('85-'88)-- 23
    3. Gabe Northern ('92-'95)-- 21
    4. Melvin Oliver ('02-'05)-- 20

    Melvin Oliver is also ranked 4th for most sacks in a season with 9 (Oliver Lawrence recorded 12 sacks in the 1989 season).

    Rydell Melancon is one of the my favorite LSU players. It was fun to watch that guy play the game.

    NOTE: Anyone know if the following recruit listed on DandDon's site is related to Rydell ?

    13. Rolando Melancon, DL, 6'2", 275, Lutcher. Melancon made All-State as a freshman. He reminds college scouts of former LSU defensive tackle Chad Lavalais
