"Today I will be announcing that I will forego my final two years of eligibility here at LSU and enter my name in the 2015 NBA Draft. After discussing my options with my family, I believe this is the time to move on and accept new challenges at the next level. I want to first thank God for giving me the talent to play the game that I love so much. I want to thank my Mom and Dad for all the support they have (given) me over the years. Last but not least, I want to thank the coaching staff, teammates and the LSU fans. I will always be a Tiger at heart forever. This was a tough decision because I hate to leave my teammates and LSU family. We have been through a lot in the past two years as we have grown as a team. This is just the beginning for LSU. I'm confident great things are coming in the near future for this team as they continue to grow. I wanted things to end on a better note but due to injuries, I was limited in what I could do for my team. Trust that I gave it my all." http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/03/lsu_forward_announces_via_text.html#incart_river
at least he admits that his chances are down to a team that doesnt need scoring. he must really hate school.
If he doesn't go to the D league he had better start learning a new language. I can see Martin possibly a late first rounder but Mickey needs more experience.
i think mickey is a better prospect because he's developing a 15' shot and has length, but its more a knock on martin than praise for mickey.
We pretty much knew it was coming. They kept hearing "two first rounders" on tv broadcasts. So of the 50 so called first rounders there are going to be a bunch left standing when the music stops.
i dont think it was that. his dad's interview was telling if you read btw the lines. basically he was going to go no matter what the nba eval said. language was very negative toward returning. mickey's statement confirmed it. the eval was poor but he's going anyway because he was injured. no doubt the eval said--"you are unlikely to be selected in the first round. player would be better served to remain in college to improve draft position"
Terrible decision. Martin has a skillset, while rudimentary, that the NBA actually wants. Mickey, not as much. He needed to emulate Brandon Bass if he wants an extended career in the Association. Brandon had a money jumper, though, and that's what has kept him on teams. Mickey needed to return and improve. Baffling decision because he's not guaranteed money.
Sad for Mickey and LSU. Seriously doubt he'll get drafted, needed another year of good health and development.
