I can't understand why we picked that play. The screen has been mediocre at best all year, downright terrible at worst. Picking something that doesn't work at crunchtime that hasn't worked well all year is beyond me. Must be the genious Crowton saw something I didn't

Well, with 35 seconds left it's a great call on a fast track. Chances are you get the first, stop the clock, line up and go.

Now on that nasty mess, it was not so good.

It almost makes me think Crowton knows the boot is coming and this was his final FU to the team.

disagree strongly... horrible call no matter what field you're playing on. you simply can't risk ANYTHING shorter than 10 yards in the middle of the field when you have no time-outs and only 35 seconds left. period.

the penalty was bogus, but poor coaching lost us the game. again.

Well, you all should be familiar with Crowton's philosophy by now. If a play has been so ineffective or is so in appropriate given the game situation, then the other team will never expect you to run it, thus guaranteeing it's inevitable success. Conversely, if a play works great even once, permanently abandon it because the opposing team will not only instantly recognize it, but also defend it perfectly.

Shouldn't have surprised anybody. I was actually expecting us to run it.

Crowton on the radio about that play:

"We wanted to get to the 35"

That is about all he said.
