I have read that Miles has been considered as a natural successor to Lloyd Carr whenever he decides to retire, being that Miles is a Michigan alum.

I certainly hope that Bertman includes a buyout clause with Miles.

I don't think Miles is a horrible choice as coach, but I also don't think it would sit well with Tiger fans if he used LSU as a stepping stone to bolt for Michigan in 4-5 years.

There are two factions at UM - the Bo Schembechler faction favors Les Miles to replace Carr but the Carr faction prefers one of his assistants. I look for the Carr faction to win that battle.

plus we also have to think about the effect that LSU might have on him. I honestly don't think Saban expected to stay as long as he did.

Almost everybody in a business situation is moving somewhere. If we only hire someone that will never leave, that only means we have someone that nobody else wants. :thumb:

until that day where someone who is born bleeding purple and gold comes along and turns himself into a really great football coach I have to agree....look at Spurrier, he was Florida to the bone and even he left!

Guys, I am a Hawk fan and a B10 fan, but if Myles is thinking about going to LSU and then Michigan, he is an idiot. Why wouldn't he stay at OSU until the MIchigan job opened. The LSU job is an awesome opportunity and not a stepping stone to Michigan. If you guys have him, I would imagine that he is yours until the NFL comes knocking, and maybe even beyond that time.

Yes, but it's one thing to have a HC who could leave you for the pros, and quite another to have a HC whol could leave you for another college program.

When LSU football was in the post-Curley Hallman dumps, it was understandable to put an out to ND clause in DiNardo's contract.

The state of LSU football has, in a massive understatement, changed quite a bit since then.

Miles just seems like a bad "fit"

and for several diverse reasons. I'm not thrilled w/ the choice to begin with. To top it off, the guy has a $1M buyout? And, everyone says he would be a likely successor to Lloyd Carr at Michigan. So, I don't even like the guy but I also have to worry about him leaving us for Michigan??! What's wrong with that picture? Why the rush to hire this guy?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
