    Where stately oaks ...
Miles has tried to add an element to LSU's football tradition, not change it.

He said if LSU wins Saturday, he wants his players to go over to the student section in Tiger Stadium and sing the alma mater with the LSU band.

Does LSU's first-year coach know all the words?

"I'm still struggling," Miles admitted. "But I'll know it really well by Saturday night."
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Doesn't Florida already do this?

I'm not sure I like the idea of some new guy, albeit the head coach, coming here and having never even coached one game in Death Valley and seeing how our traditions work, deciding he wants to start his own new traditions. Seems presumptious to me.

Do most students know the words to the alma mater (both verses) without the aid of the big screen? It has never really been our tradition to sing that song, sweet as it is. I know most of us know the words, but we've always seemed to have been more into the fight songs and other cheers (Hot boudin.....).

Thoughts on Miles' tampering with tradition?

My thought: Better go learn the damn words so you won't embarrass our team on TV when we run over to sing the song after the win.

We used to do this in high school. It was a pretty emotional thing to be a part of after a big win.

Why not try and start another new tradition in his second game? Getting rolled for over 500 yds per game is the first he established two weeks ago, so he's on pace for one a week.

Maybe in week 3 it'll be purple jerseys and pants.

This is something that kind of just has to happen and not be forced into.

It would have been better to kind of pass the word around throughout the players and have the rumors start, and then when it happens that would have been something magical. Just my 2 cents

I agree...I went to two different high schools...one sang the alma mater after the game and the other high school didn't do anything with the fans, and there was bond there.

I think this is an awesome idea and one I wanted for a while. Just because Florida does it, doesn't mean we can't. Our students scream their lungs out for their team, why can't the team come bond and share a school moment with the fans? Because they don't know the words? Please...

It ALMOST/kinda started with Saban. How many times did he go right over to the student section at the conclussion of a big-game-win?

Miles is just acting on what is perceived to have been Saban's intentions. I'm not opposed to it at all.

If he wants to do it, so be it. New traditions can happen you know.

i think this is a good idea.

people should know the alma mater (both verses) anyway. btw did anyone else notice the switch like two years ago when they started doing the 2nd verse b4 the game instead of the 1st verse. I kinda like ending with "forever LSU" !!!!!
