--this is the game of their lives. Since they started ranking teams in the early 1930s, Miss State has only hosted twelve teams ranked in the top 5, which is like once every 6 years. they've only hosted seven teams ranked in the top 3, which is like once every 11 years. Despite MSU's .644 all-time win pct at home, the only top 5 team Miss St has ever taken down at home was #3 Florida in 2000 under Jackie Sherrill (Florida went 7-1 in the SEC that year and won the SEC Championship). however, MSU has played tough against three of the last four Top 10 teams they have faced at home, staying within 10 points of them, including the 26-30 L to #7 LSU in 2009 and the 2-3 L to #9 Auburn in 2008. expect them to bring it. winning a game like this is basically the ultimate dream of every player that goes to Miss State. they are jacked about this game... --watch out for MSU's two blue chip DTs (both 300 lbs). might be the best DT combo in the country and every preseason SEC preview talks about them. they've started every game since they were freshman, and they are juniors now. one of them was ranked the #2 DT in the SEC this year in the preseason voting by the SEC coaches (the NT at Bama was #1). both of them were Rivals200 recruits, one was a Rivals100 and is expected to be an early round draft pick. it's these two guys that were one of the main reasons Miss St was better against the run than LSU was last year (Miss State's Rush D was #15 in rushing ypg allowed last season, LSU was #42... Miss State's Rush D was #27 in rushing ypc allowed last season, LSU was #38). don't be fooled by how Auburn ran all over them last game, Auburn did the same thing to us last year and that one game didn't mean our D sucked. Malzahn is a tricky mo-fo to defend. this is what the MSU players said about LSU...
This is another reason they are bringing it, nobody laughs at them like LSU, and they are our oldest rival...it makes them boil with pure hate for us...I know a guy that went to miss state and wore an LSU jersey to school one day, he had to go home and change bc so many people were about to kick his ass
