In a key game in the SEC, not concerning the LSU Tigers, the Tennessee Vols beat the Kentucky Wildcats at Kentucky tonight... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/basketball/ncaa/02/07/bc.bkc.t25.tennessee.kentucky.ap/index.html It's key in various ways, which leave me happy and annoyed. First off, Tennessee perhaps ends up being our best "quality win", especially if they keep winning. They're now 8-1 in the SEC, the highest SEC RPI team and in a serious race with us for the SEC championship. So, the win helps us with the NCAA tourney looming. It also isn't too bad seeing ole Kentucky humbled for once. On the other hand, it kills me to see first year coach Pearl rack up another win, as his Tennessee vols upstart season continues to overshadow the accomplishments of a younger, just as unexpected, SEC leading Tigers who actually beat the Tennessee Vols. It just means that the pressure's still on for the Tigers and Brady. Perhaps a loss for the Wildcats is preferred also b/c a demoralized Kentucky coming to Baton Rouge is something we want... as opposed to a Tubby team who has it's confidence back.:geauxtige
