More beloved in Louisiana- Saints or Tigers

  1. PURPLE TIGER

PURPLE TIGER HOPE is not a strategy!

Many Louisiana residents are Tiger fans because they don't just play football. You can pull for good Tiger teams throughout the year but usually only get to pull for the Saints during the NFL draft.

If the Saints continue to win and if they ever redesign the area around the Dome to accommodate tailgating, I think you'll see more people flock to the Saints.

With the players they have and the high expectations for next year, I'm sure they'll be playing a few "prime time" games next year. More exposure = more fans!

Many fans were just waiting for Haslett and Brooks to be canned so they could wear their black & gold again. Now they just need to get rid of Fred Thomas. :nope:

Maybe some of our northern LA residents will realize that we have a better team here in our own state.

LSU by a mile. LSU sells out 92+k stadium every week. Until this season the Saints could not even constantly sell out the Dome. LSU is flag ship university and owned by and represents the state of Louisiana. The students and players are primarily Louisiana kids playing for their state and school. The Saints are a company owned by Tom Benson who's primary goal is to make money. This is the same man that tried to move the team in the wake of Katrina and held the state hostage every year before trying to extort more money from the tax players for his own personal interest. On top of that, the Saints players are mostly made up of a bunch of millionaire athletes that are only living in New Orleans for a pay check.

    LSU! :helmet: :geauxtige

I've never met an LSU student/alum who wasn't a fan.......throw in the fact that many (Probably most) of the students/alum of other universities in the State are LSU fans as well. All of the fans who neither attended nor graduated from college are LSU 100%.

The Saints have solidified thei fanbase somewhat with a great season, but LSU maintains a significant margin in my area of the State and, presumably across Louisiana.

LSU. Other schools fans despise LSU (I'm looking at you USL) but they are in the minority compared to those who like LSU. The Cowboys are big in northern LA. The Saints are big in Southern LA, but other teams such as the Texans or Cowboys also have a significant following in the region.

Put it to you this way, the largest crowd in the history of the Superdome was an LSU football game. Not even the rapid Monday nighter for the Saints this year, or any of the playoff games come close to LSU in the MNC game.
Hell, there are 3 LSU vs Tulane regular season games in the Dome had more in attendance than the highest attended Saints game.

doesn't matter because it is an apples to oranges question. NFL and college teams are two entirely differnt things. louisiana just happens to have great teams for each to support!

    well said.
to me they are like my children, it's hard to pick a favorite. i am more involved with LSU though b/c i tailgate and attend every home game. i might only go to one or two saints games a year. gun to my head, i'd pick LSU, but i love my saints too.

I never knew about the Northern La affiliation for the Cowboys over the Saints. Does that mean that region also pulls for Texas schools in college football as well? Although, I'm not surprised that the Cowboys have fans in La as well. The Cowboys are the most popular NFL team in America, where they're called America's team. Its popularity rivals even that of ND.

LSU. its not just N La that follows the Cowboys. they are/were big in sw la. there was a significant period of time in the 90's when the local station carried Cowboys games not Saints games. in fact, some coonass blew up a major transformer once (near ragley, i think) and the station was down for a while.
