Although I'm not amused by "close", I honestly think the Brown Suit can take this car to the Sweet Sixteen (further if #3 rides the pine), just wondering... A) how far do you honestly think LSU will go? B) which "name" teams would you like to match up with LSU? C) would you be happy with the season if LSU loses in the opening round? Me? A) 2-1, out at 16 B) any PAC-10 team, Minnesota, KENTUCKY C) no, but I see hope for a return to rivaling UK for a few years and running away with the West
Did u watch Washington and Arizona tonight ?... sheesh I would rather play a Big 12 or Big 10 team, they look a little more suspect, but i think with the right bracket we could make the Elite 8
I am going to try really really hard and ignore your comment about #3....... Now..... A) Very good chance to get to the Elite 8 B) I'd like to see LSU take on Illinois C) Yes, I would be happy with the season but the post-season is what it's all about in the end.
Like KTeam, w/ the right bracket, I could see this team making the field of 8. They're really just that hot right now. Every tournament has a Cinderella story...why NOT us? Since we're quite likely going to be a 5 or 6 seed, the odds of us facing a "name" school at 11 or 12 in the first round are not all that great. However, I'd like to see a good intersectional matchup w/ somebody from the Big 10. If we could somehow manage to have impressed the committee enough to give us a #4 seed (highly unlikely) I'd love to see us match up w/ that JC over in Lafayette that likes to give itself airs about being a "big boy school"...but that won't happen. I'd also like a rematch w/ West Virginia (my dark horse team to make some noise in this tourney). Yes. I won't be particularly happy about losing in the first round, but if Bass comes back for his junior year, w/ the addition of Tasmin Mitchell, this club is going to be hell on wheels next year...and you've got to start somewhere, vis-a-vis tournament experience.
I was underwhelmed, frankly. Washington looked good against Arizona, but the PAC-10 has been so-so all year. The Cheeseheads scare me, as does the Big XII elite. Ideally, we catch a George Washington-type, something like a Washington. I see LSU snagging a 6th seed, proabably out West.
A) ...like the previous poster said, every tourney has a Cinderella story...and why not us...AGAIN? 1986 was a long time ago and LSU is DUE. As the Tigers proved Saturday, they CAN play with anyone... A Final Four appearance, while not likely, IS NOT a stretch. If they can play as well as they have...even in the loss Saturday...they will smoke UAB and beat Arizona as well. Sweet 16 is likely....Final Four if Tack gets his head on straight and Hud keeps his hot hand going. This team IS THAT talented. B) Definitely would love to see Kentucky again. Also, Florida needs to saw that trophy in half and ship the bigger half to Baton Rouge. LSU did just as much, if not more than Florida did to beat Kentucky today. You could tell that Kentucky's players were dog-ass tired and looked drained and beat to hell. C) Yes indeed. Sharing the SECW title after the sluggish and embarrassing start to the season...definitely a pleasant surprise. My dark horse for the tourney...watch out for Villanova. I can also see any of the 5 or 6 seeds making it to the final four without it being much of a stretch.
The key to beating LSU is simple for the team deep enough and big enough in the frontcourt to do so: post up LSU's big men and try to draw them into early foul trouble. If Bass and or Davis have to sit for long stretches of time due to fouls, things could get ugly. Lack of depth has killed many a talented team's tourney run, and I fear we'll not be the exception. As a fan, I'm taking it one game at a time and hope for the best.
