try not imploding on each other? I hated to read some of the posts in these threads gang. No need to be tearing each other apart even if we have different views. It was a bad game and it was a total team breakdown. Its not accurate to lay the blame on any one person or part of the team. Hopefully they learn from this and move on. A wake up call in a narrow win like this can help wonders in the long haul. It could easily have been a loss and really hurt our year.
The mark of a true champion is to play like crap and still manage to win the game. LSU did just that. That is what I took out of the game. Oh, btw, Russell for President. Just had to throw that in.
Ummm, he wasn't that good. He played better than Randall did in the first half, but he wasn't great. I'll stick with W.
I think we all knew we would have a game like this sometime this year. Remember Florida last year? The OSU game was a shocker, but we got past it and it is behind us, so we all feel a little better maybe. Any opponent that judges the 2004 LSU team by this one game is making a major mistake. :geaux:
Russell showed greatness at times last night but was also 9 for 26 and almost threw 2 INT's. Let's settle down a little bit
Addai missed two passes in his hands. Plus it was JaMarcus's first collegiate playing time in a huge game with 92,000 fans going crazy. Under the circumstances I think that JaMarcus played a fabulous game considering that he has not been getting hardly any snaps with the first team. No matter what the stats showed, and I am a believer in stats, JaMarcus scored 2 TDs, a 2-point conversion, and drove LSU down to the 5 yard line which allowed Randall to make a great run for the OT TD. Randall could not even pick up a third down conversion. Also "almost threw 2 INT's" isn't the same as throwing 2 INT's. Randall did throw an INT. I am not a Randall basher I wanted him to succeed more than anyone because I believe that the only way for LSU to win the SEC and NC this year was to have Randall show 5th year leadership and ability. Unfortunately, he did not show ability nor 5th year maturity. It is my opinion that with only 11 games in a season the best player should be on the field. I would love to see Bennie Brazell get more PT but the facts are that he is not as good as the younger guys. He accepts his status and tries to be the best special teams player that he can be. I believe that Nick Saban will put the person on the field who gives LSU the best chance to win and I support that.
Hence me saying he looked great at times. But he also threw some bad passes and is a freshman, RS or not. All I am saying is that we shouldnt expect Russell to just throw for 300 yards every game.
You're so fullo ... notice how you leave out the part where Randall takes over and drives the Tigers to the two yard line and Russell comes in and overthrows green ... with just over 3 minutes left in the game HOW CONVENIENT! JUST SMASHING :thumb: :thumb:
The QB sitaution will be interesting. As of last night Saban didn't know what he was going to do. Some folks feel we need to think abou the future and just throw in JR. Let him get his XP in and stick it out through '04. Personally I want the best guy who is gonna win the next game behind the snapper. IMO, both guys have great potential with both showing flashes of brilliance. I think we will see both again against Arkansas ST. :geaux: :usaflagwa
