The Raiders reported today, who thinks JR and crew will get any sleep tonight? I'm guessing both the front office of Oakland and JR's crew are up all night trying to get him in camp tomorrow. Also as far as I know Bowe and Landry have yet to sign.
Jeez. Thanks for reminding me why I don't particularly care for professional sports. Of course, I may have to pay a bit more attention this season. And for obvious reasons like having a lot of Tigers in the NFL more so than my feelings of the professional versus college debacle. Hell, I enjoy it all, but the NCAA is where it's at homie.
I like the NFL as much as the NCAA. The difference is the loyality is to one team in college football, while in the pros you can cheer for 2-3 teams at the same time. And the passion for the game in college is so great, but in the pros the level of talent and play is just amazing.
True. But I'm not sure if the college passion doesn't make up for it in some way. Totally different animals of course.
He's fine, VY didn't get in for a few practices, Leinart was like a week, etc. its not an issue. LT held out for a long time his rookie year and still had an impact(granted at RB on the crappy Chargers but still...). As for Quinn, I've heard that he is getting a standard contract for his slot for the first two years of the contract but the next two is goign to be full of performance escalators and that is what is taking so long.
The Browns would be idiots if they give Quinn top5 money. If they didn't take Quinn at 21, he might have gone 22 or late first round. But most experts were saying he was a 2nd rounder. No one in the top 21 wanted Quinn in the first round except for 1 team, so why should (and would) they give him top 5 money??? That doesn't make sense at all. He has no leverage on this and should be lucky the Brown did what they did for him on draft day. Not only over-hype, but greedy and ungrateful too? :dis:
There were plenty of teams that passed on him although I believe if it weren't for the Browns moving to 22, the Chiefs would have taken him at 23. The Browns didn't seem to unsure about the whole thing though since they sit through the Panthers and Jaguars, picks 14 and 21.
Saw somewhere on TV that JR's agent is trying to work out the highest rookie contract in history. With over 30M guaranteed. If this is the case it could be a little while before JR makes it out to camp. BTW, how much was Mario Williams' contract in guaranteed $$$?
yeah 26 if I remember. It better be the highest rookie contract to date, he's a number 1 QB, he's supposed to be the highest. Whether it is a huge hike up percentage wise from other #1 QBs, I don't know, but that would be pretty monunmental.
