Anyone seen Invention of Lying? heard it wasnt that great which kinda sucks but ill have to decide on my own.

ricky gervais (who is in it) was pretty funny hosting the golden globes although sometimes not so much. he was probably drunk.

we rented The Hurt Locker not really knowing anything about it but it was really good. i think im now a fan of jeremy renner even though i had no idea who he was before.

I also thought Inglourious Basterds was a kick in the ass although I was alone in that assessment. whoever the dude was that played col. hans made this movie for me. im not an acting expert but i kept thinking how awesome he was in his role during the movie.

though I was still surprised to see him win the best supporting actor award. wasnt even aware he was nominated so it was good to see him win. pretty ruthless part he played.

i dont think tarantino won anything though. probably disappointed since he was pimping it pretty hard the weeks prior.

but i suppose the oscars are all the really matters to them anyhow.

the invention of lying was an atheist manifesto. as have mentioned before, ricky gervais is awesome and his podcasts and radio shows are my favorite thing.

i liked up in the air, and i also liked revolting youth or whatever.

yeah i knew you probably liked it just because he was in it. you probably never fell asleep in one of his movies.

but is it worth a crap?

I miss peabody, but this will do. Thanks.

Maybe include peabody's rating scheme, just for old times?

The Hurt Locker was easily the best film of 2009. Bad Lieutenant: New Orleans port of Call is also a very good film, but none of the major studios pushed it so no one it seems known about it. It's arguably Nic Cage's best work to date. Sin Nombre is also pretty damn good if you're into international films and anything Ricky Gervais is worthy of my time, so I will be getting around to his flick pretty soon. I also liked Big Fan with Patton and Inglorious Basterds was extremely enjoyable. I don't know of any Tarentino movie that isn't worth watching for the dialogue alone. The visuals are simply a bonus.

I really liked The Hurt Locker and Inglorious Bastards. Was not a fan of Bad Lieutenant: New Orleans port of Call. Thought Up in the Air was good but not great.

I wish I could go to movies that aren't designed for kids. Currently, my 8-year-old is smoking through The Lightning Thief, so she can go see the Percy Jackson movie coming out in a couple of weeks. She hasn't yet figured out that the book's for middle schoolers, but she's now into Greek mythology.

of course it is. and like i said, it really is a destructive atheist manifesto masquerading as a rom com.

inglorious basterds was probably the best movie i saw last year.

i need to see this "hurt locker". i thought it was a documentary about bomb dudes and was disappointed to find it isnt.

i saw the preview for bad LT NO and i cried a little at what a terribly boring world we live in.
