    C - Liuzza/Weaver
    1B - W. Harris/Mayer - until Harris learns to hit
    2B - C. Harris
SS - Hollander - fast and good arm
3B - JP Padron - needs to work on his hitting, but a good defensive player
    LF - Patterson
    RF - Stavinhoa
    CF - Sprowl
    DH - Gill

    1. Sprowl
    2. Gill
    3. Patterson
    4. C. Harris
    5. Stavinhoa
    6. Hollander
    7. Liuzza/Weaver
    8. Padron
    9. Mayer/W.Harris

    After Gill comes back:

    C - Liuzza/Weaver (till one steps up)
    1B - W. Harris
2B - C. Harris (doing a masterful job at this position)
    SS - B. Gill
3B - Hollander (with his arm strength I think he could do well here, and he has a good bat at this point)
    LF - Patterson
    RF - Stavinhoa
    CF - Sprowl

    Batting Order:

    1. Sprowl (still needs to work out the kinks, but a good lead off guy non-the-less)
    2. Gill (Mr. Base hit)
    3. Patterson (Still shaking out the cop webs, but on the right track)
    4. C. Harris (been Mr. Dependable, with alot of power)
    5. Stavinhoa (very powerful this year)
    6. Hollander (showing alot of good pop in his bat)
    7. Liuzza/Weaver (both are not performing at the plate, so only time will tell, but they will still share time)
    8. W. Harris (needs to step up and hit, think he will come around eventually)
    9. Mayer - dh (big mean hitter, think he will take over for Will next year with good dhing this year)

    Disagree or Agree?

I agree for the most part. I would have Padron somewhere in the lineup after Gill returns to SS though. I haven't seen enough of him to tell if he's for real, but I like how he's built, and he's solid. A great-looking athelete. I'd have Liuzza benched until he starts showing that he can hit. 2 for his last 20 won't cut it. I say that lightly too, because I know he'll be in good shape once the time comes. Hollander is nice too, I would like to see him in the lineup as well. I think it all really boils down to who wants to play the most since we're totally loaded at every position. I will say that offensively I've been impressed with Ryan Patterson, Nick Stavinoha, Clay Harris, and Bruce Sprowl (solid little leadoff guy.) Everyone else needs to improve. Again, this will come with time. Pitching, for the most part, has been really impressive. I mean REALLY impressive. Of course the newcomers are REALLY disappointing me right now, but they too will come around. I guess it's just STILL too early. We'll see after this upcoming week. Tulane and ASU will teach us more about ourselves than Nicholls, UALR, Houston, or UAB EVER will.

14 SOs in 40 AB striking out 30+% of the time (highest on the team)... he is batting just .300 with a respectable 9 RBIs (so he isnt doing terrible but...)

    compared to:

with only 18 ABs Mayer is hitting .278 with 7 RBIs but only 5 SOs, so he is putting bat to ball.

I realize this is a questionable move, but I think early season, it may do better to give Will the drive... like what we are doing with Liuzza/Weaver

It wont happen, but i would give Mayer the opportunity through out the season. Plus the experience would be good for what looks to be a GREAT freshman who will be stepping in next year for Will.

will has already proven he could hit unless you missed last year. I agree Mayer will be a force as well and both should be producing more. Maybe you mean Bryan Harris. :hihi: :hihi:

Derek Hebert has been given many opportunities to play but has shown he can't be an everyday player due to his hitting.

Buteau has some pop and has been very productive whenever he's played, which is very little.

Padron has done nothing at the plate and you can't have that from a corner player. he'll be ok but like others in due time.

Liuzza is proven not only to be able to hit yet clutch in pressure situations so Im not worried about him. However his slump is hurting the teams productivity. Weaver is outhitting him but who isn't.

Stewart has struggled and thats disappointing. he has all the bat speed you could ever ask for.

Hollander looks to be a nice hitter but you can't go changing position player starters so soon. Many are slumping and they have to work out of it since they will be needed. Platooning at times will help.

gotta love sprowl. hes just one of those gritty, productive players who get a team going regardless his numbers. He will improve drastically once conference play starts I think.

pitching has been great. not gonna complain about any of that.

Like i told kteam last week, you can't take Dirks out of the rotation due to his inconsistencies. he has the ability to dominate and those are the arms needed come year end. Meier is another. I hope he can find his release point and get in rhythm. Im sure lane is helping all of them.

I would still like to see Padron in the line up as well (I believe he will stay at 3rd). I think he may need more ABs to adjust to College Ball. Im just beng hard on Will, he will come out of his slump like everyone else, Im just thinking while he slumping why not give Mayer some games (which he has gotten). I really like our young players ie Hollander, Bhuteau, Padron, Mayer, English, Ramirez, Cahill, etc... They show alot of potential to take over the open slots next season, when we loses our seniors.

i think we have another harris on the roster. that makes 4 i know of. why not just add Harris to the new park name and get the other bryan to sponsor it?

Does hawthorne still promote saying Alec Box? that irritates me.

Anyone know if they are going to change the name of the ball park when they move it? I wouldn't be totally annoyed if they named it Bertman Field or Bertman Stadium, but I just dont think it will be the "Box" any more.

They said it will remain Alex Box. However, I would like for them to name the field after Skip.

Skip Bertman Field at Alex Box Stadium ... sorta long, but I could live with it!

That's the worst thing Smoke could do. You've got to let him hit his way out of the slump. Bench him and he could be ruined for the rest of the year. Will can hit. He's already proven that.
