    Ivan,

You have a big time job so I guess you’ve followed college football for a while. So you should have learned at least this by now, take it from an older, wiser, more experienced, more knowledgeable college football aficionado and learn, “NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING & POLLS ARE BIASED.” Writer’s & coaches, have emotional ties to what goes on. All things being equal (and sometimes when not), they vote for their region, their conference, what they saw last, a sentimental favorite, or whoever their collective experiences from life tells them who they like. The fact is that it’s not real. It’s a charade. Would there be the same media surge behind a team with less tradition from a small media market that turned in USC’s exact season? Absolutely not.

Unless the game is played, we don’t know and will not know who is better. USC showed they were better than #4 Michigan. Does that make them the best team in country? Should we forget how impressive Oklahoma & LSU have been? The makers of the BCS did not leave it up to the voters for a simple reason. The reason is that THEY DON”T KNOW & CAN’T MAKE AN UNBIASED DECISON. The winner of the Sugar Bowl deserves to be called a national champion just as much as USC.

Your analogy to the British Open is a very bad one. A golf tournament has rules and definite winner. There are no rules here, just the skewed perceptions of unctuous sports writers and coaches who all have their own agendas and declare a new greatest team of all-time every Saturday. The championship will be split & should be. For you to arbitrarily declare USC the champion and dismiss the Sugar Bowl as irrelevant and a “nice bowl game” is absurd. You can call USC the hands-down champion and yourself a good writer but that doesn’t make it true. I’m the king of Mesopotamia. I have as much authority as you do to make your claims.

Thankfully Oklahoma & LSU don’t need to rely on convoluted logic and bad analogies for their share of the title. The winner of that game gets a big national championship crystal football delivered by the only objective system the geniuses could muster.

    Nice try though, Ivan.

I wrote him after the SECCG because he was already starting on how USC will get screwed, but he never (EVER) wrote back. He hides behind his persona on ESPN to dish it out but never take it when someone questions his thinking.

Sounds sorta like my wife in a way.....

Great email. But I have a feeling he'll never read it. Let us know if he responds. I'd like to see how he defends himself.
