ya' know considering that on a 99 man roster.......72 are freshmen and sophomores...............man' i'm lovin' it.......we are so damn spoiled it's pathetic........the early polls were way too high...........but if you are a life long lsu fan..........the best is yet to come..........geaux tigahs!!!! and p.s....my apologies to mr. randall......he is comin' up to the bar..........way to go man !!!!!
I'd say we are right smack in the middle of the good times. I do agree with snorton93, this is my kind of rebuilding year. As bad as we make it seem on this board, we all know LSU is heading in the right direction. I can't remember the last time we have spent so many consecutive weeks ranked in the top 25. I know some don't find that a big deal, but it says something about the program.
Even though we have played poorly this year I still feel enthused about our direction. We have awesome coaches and young players, most of which were very highly touted in high school. The experience factor has been a big deal this year but that will improve every game. We are definitely loaded with young talent.
What have you done with the real snorton!??!?! He would have made 500 posts in the past two hours!!! I agree with the things you said. These are good times indeed for LSU!
This team now has an excellent chance at winning 10 games. Do people realize how few 10 win seasons LSU has ever had?
And that is what we need to concentrate on, I've been guilty of focusing on the bad play instead of the wins. 10-2 would be awesome.
I'd say we are right smack in the middle of the good times. But if Russell and Flynn can't beat out Randall after a year and a half in the program then maybe good times are still a good quarterback away. All the talent in the world dosen't do any good if you don't have a quarterback that can run the offense effectively. Maybe one of them will develop, but you would think by now one of them would have stepped forward and taken over the position being what the QB situation currently is. That Sabin believes that Randell is the best option at the position is not a good sign for next season. Either we have to recruit a QB that can step right in as a true freshman (not impossible, look at Ainge at Tennessee and Leak at Florida last season) or Russell/Flynn are going to have to make huge strides before the start of next season or 2005 will be a 'rebuilding season' also. If we had a Rohan Davey at QB right now, with this talent around him on offense, we sure wouldn't be talking about this being a rebuilding year.
Russell is apparently a slow learning.. flynn missed alot of practice from an illness i believe.. in my opinion, flynn will take over the offense next year. He, to me, is a matt mauck clone, with more athletic talent. I think he will be a great. As far as the youth on the roster, ive been trying to tell people this all year, and no one will listen. They say "well this team or that team is young too and they are winning" But no other team has had to start with the schedule that LSU has started with and im pretty sure there are very few, if any, teams that are as young as LSU.
