We've faced two below average QB's, having bad nights. The press needs something to write about, so they are over hyping our stats. Let's not get carried away. Hype is hype.
in 2006 season, Tigers as a team had 16 interceptions for 243 yards. Craig Steltz had 25% (4) of those for 46% (111) of the total yards. in 2 games of 2007, Tigers as a team have 7 interceptions for 133 yards. That's 44% of all of last year's interceptions in only 2 games. That's 55% of all of last years interception returns in only 2 games. the press writes about lsu and our stats because O and D looked fantastic against VT. not only in walking all over them, but in execution, timing, and attention to detail. you're right. we shouldn't get carried away, but we shouldn't short change the boys on D either. just my two cents (okay, penny and a half) hype may be hype, but stats are stats, and they keep adding up over the season no matter what the hype is. Defense is fantastic this year, not just the line but in all positions.
Hell, it's not like getting excited about the hype is bad. ENJOY IT! We've been wanting some respect for our Tigers and we're getting it. Steltz has been a stud - I hope he stays on fire all year and becomes the LaRon Landry of 2007!
